How can you feign anger over others’ attacks on a free press when you imprison Assange as punishment for his vital revelations about U.S. officials?

Continuing his world tour doling out righteous lectures to the world, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday proclaimed — in a sermon you have to hear to believe — that few things are more sacred in a democracy than “independent journalism.” ...

That the Biden administration is such a stalwart believer in the sanctity of independent journalism and is devoted to defending it wherever it is threatened would come as a great surprise to many, many people. Among them would be Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the person responsible for breaking more major stories about the actions of top U.S. officials than virtually all U.S. journalists employed in the corporate press combined.

Currently, Assange is sitting in a cell in the British high-security Belmarsh prison because the Biden administration is not only trying to extradite him to stand trial on espionage charges for having published documents embarrassing to the U.S. Government and the Democratic Party but also has appealed a British judge's January ruling rejecting that extradition request. The Biden administration is doing all of this, noted The New York Times, despite the fact that “human rights and civil liberties groups had asked the [administration] to abandon the effort to prosecute Mr. Assange, arguing that the case . . . could establish a precedent posing a grave threat to press freedoms” — press freedoms, exactly the value which Blinken just righteously spent the week celebrating and vowing to uphold. ...

It is hardly new for the U.S. to dole out lectures which the rest of the world recognizes as complete farces. In 2015, then-President Obama was prancing around India giving lectures on the importance of human rights, only to cut short his trip to fly to Saudi Arabia, where he met numerous top officials of the U.S. Government to pay homage to Saudi King Abdullah, their long-time close and highly repressive ally whose totalitarian regime Obama did so much to fortify.

This is one of Trump's failings as well. He should have pardoned both Assange and Snowden.

Nah, let him rot. He refused to publish any dirt on CCP
and USSR leaders when given the opportunity. This kind of blind spot tell you everything you need to know wrt whose asset he really is.

The USSR does not exist - it fell apart over 30 years ago... Besides, who are you to tell Julian Assange what to publish?

Tucker Carlson told Roseanne Barr that former CIA Director Mike Pompeo tried to have Wikileaks founder Julian Assange murdered.

“They are torturing him to death in front of all of us...Mike Pompeo tried to have him murdered and that’s a criminal act. He's not even charged with a crime in the United States…He tried to have Julian Assange murdered, poisoned in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and that’s a fact.”

So why would the Pompeo and the CIA want Assange dead?

Epstein met with Joe Biden’s current CIA Chief, William Burns, after his child sex crime conviction. Also, when Epstein was serving his first jail sentence, which started in 2006, he sent his bodyguard to CIA headquarters for an alleged special training course. The bodyguard was given a book with a message to be delivered to Epstein, according to Bradley Edwards’ book Relentless Pursuit. Edwards is an attorney who has represented dozens of Epstein victims.

Furthermore, Assange released the Podesta E-mails exposing Pizzagate.

Journalist/Documentarian John Pilger Dies at 84

From the start, Pilger was a dedicated supporter of Julian Assange, and, an early opponent of the Viet Nam War. Although not a fan of Donald Trump, Pilger once said that Hillary Clinton was 'far more dangerous than Trump.' Pilger was also a prolific author. His videos, along with much of his writings, etc. can be viewed for free by going here:

If you are not familiar with Pilger, his work is definitely worth spending some time to investigate.

Whereas the disclosure of this information promoted public transparency through the exposure of the hiring of child prostitutes by Defense Department contractors, friendly fire incidents, human rights abuses, civilian killings, and United States use of psychological warfare;

Whereas, in 2018, Mr. Assange was charged with one count under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) for alleged conspiracy to help a United States Army intelligence analyst access Defense Department computers without authorization;

Whereas the charge under the CFAA was despite the fact that said intelligence analyst already had access to the mentioned computer, that the purported breaching of the Defense Department computers was impossible, and that there was no proof Mr. Assange had any contact with said intelligence analyst;

Any bets as to St Trump pardoning Assange when he gets elected? Or will it be another choice of an asshat such as Pompeo as CIA chief who will plot to murder him?

Won't happen, he's part of the establishment. Don't believe me, see how many pardons he issued for Assange last go-round.

.

Assange is still in Belmarsh Prison in London.

Deep State career bureaucracy wants him in the USA for an espionage trial since they charge he got Chelsea Manning to provide him video that was marked classified.

Since Deep State wants him, then likely Biden is putting pressure on British government to get the courts to allow Assange to be extradited to the USA.

Members of the Bundestag demand the immediate release of Julian Assange. “The political show trial against Assange must be ended immediately,” says the MPs’ letter, which is available exclusively to the Frankfurter Rundschau. “He is entitled to a fair trial before the European Court of Human Rights.” 75 members of the Bundestag from the traffic light parties signed the appeal. The appeal was coordinated by the Green MP Max Lucks, Frank Schwabe from the SPD and the FDP MP Ulrich Lechte. “His case is emblematic of the state of press freedom in Europe,” said Lucks. “My British colleagues should contact their government and join us in demanding a hearing before the ECHR.”

I believe that was a post of sarcasm which is why people should avoid using it to get their point across.

Yes, the sarcasm being that Assange is not a journalist because actual journalists today work with the government to keep things hidden.

Call them what they are, propagandists. We have maybe 1/2 dozen well known journalists serving the United States today, and none in corporate media. I don't consider Carlson a journalist, there's a lot of stuff he won't touch. He's never bought up the fact the US overthrew Ukraine, and even though he opposed the Syrian war, he never pointed out the Douma chemical attacks never happened and were falsified.

Julian Assange: Not only Olaf Scholz speaks out against his extradition

Europe's Olaf Scholz surprises with words against the extradition of Julian Assange to the USA. In the European Parliament, politicians are calling for an end to the perfidious persecution of the journalist.

This is years too late.

It's just an attempt to regain credibility. If they spoke out when he was in the embassy (which was just an apartment BTW), that would have taken some tiny amount of courage. This is orchestration. Julian Assange is a vegetable now. He's been destroyed.
