It has at least paid back on the original investment. They for sure have made a profit on the cash portion as I think around half was stock. And I'm not sure how they account for theme park ticket sales as there are other attractions in the parks people will see, but maybe only went because of the new Star Wars sections. Then there's licensing rights to the original films, toys, etc. It's a cash cow and it will look like they stole Lucas Film in 10 years.
While I don't like the new movies, nothing is ever going to be as good as the original. There was also plenty of SWJ type lines in the originals too with princess Leah. They save the princess from the death star and she's nothing but a bitch to Han and Luke. Total 180 from your typical princess being rescued story line from previous time to that film. New one's are over the top, but it's nothing new in this franchise in my opinion.

For those who love to see the new Star Wars Fail, there are rumors they are still reshooting with only a few weeks before the release date, Executives are terrified the franchise is bombing, before it's yet to pay for itself. But they don't have the balls to risk SJW outrage by getting rid of Kathleen Kennedy or king of big flops JJ Abrams. Get Woke? Go Broke.
