You can thank Democrats for this. Diversity and equality always leads to this shit.

No, it's the usual California boom-and-bust economy combined with having had cheap money for far too long.

I'm living in your car...
So turn on the raidio
You're giving me a Cheeto
I just say no
I say I don't like it
But you know I'm a liar
But when the sun comes up...

No, it's laws not being enforced and/or adapted to the situation at hand. Outlaw sleeping in the cars on the streets (if it is legal now, which I doubt) and enforce the fucking thing. Boom, done.

If Foster-fucking-City can have an ordinance prohibiting parking of RVs and boat trailers on the street (and enforce it diligently), why the city of Santa-fucking-Monica can't?

Shelter is becoming a privilege. The question is whether the peasant class will accept their lot or rebel against their financial masters and the bourgeoisie who support them.

What a pile of horseshit: bums are not "peasant class" - they are bums. Shelter is not "a privilege" as long as there is a wast sea of very affordable housing away from the few overhyped hotspots. Which there is. Nobody is crying rivers of tears about "housing shortages in Wichita, KS", it's always SF, LA, Santa-fucking-Cruz.

It's only affordable if you have a decent job, but unfortunately the decent jobs are concentrated in the overhyped hotspots. Do you want to go on record as being one of the bourgeoisie?

Pray tell, what "decent jobs" are these SF bums, lying in their own vomit, piss and shit on Embarcadero, holding in that particular overhyped spot?

Bullshit. Any sane person would live with family, share a residence, or move where it’s cheaper to live such as Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, or Texas. Decent standard of living even with only a low wage job and super easy to get a part time second job.

The people living in their cars in LA do so only because the laws aren’t enforced. It’s why you see it in huge numbers in liberal run cities like LA, but not much in bordering cities.

You assume sane people have privileges that you have. Many don't. When they decide to rise up, you may want to hide your bourgeoisie status. They won't be any more sympathetic to you than you are to them.

in East LA you can see old people out on the street and they look like they just hit the skids in the last few days. Still pretty clean but nowhere to go and a little fearful. Landlords are there having people removed in a steady flow.

No family to fall on. Rent increases geared to maximum affordable by well employed.

Let me guess: these old people you allegedly see living on the streets because "the rent is too damn high" also can't move to a cheaper location because they are holding these "high quality jobs" available only in East LA?

You work in east LA? Drive by federal building off Whittier and Atlantic looks like third world central.

Perhaps housing market in CA is over-regulated, thus too damn high rents, not affordable for so-called "peasants" who can live in squalor while Silicon Valley/Politician/Hollywood overlords are just fine.

Pointer Sisters I think the song was written by Bruce Springsteen though. Although Bruce does the Shittiest version of that song ever recorded.

My wife says she’s encountered some of her students who admitted that they live in their cars, since everything close to campus costs too much rent and they don’t have family help. A McJob is good enough for basic living expenses, and community college is free or practically so, but housing costs way too much to afford while working at Chipotle. More effort could be made to find affordable housing for poor college students without assets or family to help. But living in your car is an option for those folks. Hell, my physical therapist said he did it while doing his unpaid internship. Which btw is an awful position to put people. Go and work for free for a year while getting the skills you need to start your career. Never mind that you just spent 6 years paying to learn relevant skills in college....

Of course, these aren’t the people we find pushing shopping carts full of trash, or shooting up in a public park before passing out in a puddle of their own piss in front of Starbucks. Those people are human cockroachesZ.
25   FortwayeAsFuckJoeBiden   2019 Jul 20, 8:17am

It’s idiotic here. They keep on adding more costly regulations that just drive prices up.

Fucking insane leftism here.

Again, what's so special about that particular community college so people are willing to live in their cars in order to go there? Why not go to same kind of college in a cheaper place? Is ot because of the sanctuary state thing?

State residency thing? Out-of-state tuition will be high even for community colleges (unless perhaps you are an illegal in CA).

CA has plenty of reasonable locations outside of SFBA/LA. And I heard NV and AZ are pretty relaxed wrt establishing residency for the purpose of going to college (if you're a citizen, that is).

I don't understand this part either: why not do that internship thing in some cheap area where your dollar goes much further and you don't have to suffer the indignity of living in the car? Humans are the same regardless of location, so experience gained as physical therapy intern in Boomfuck, AZ shouldn't be any less valuable than experience gained in Santa-fucking-Monica.
30   FuckTheMainstreamMedia   2019 Jul 20, 2:08pm

If I was starting over again, it would not be in Los Angeles.

Once I graduated I might stay two years and get experience, live with my parents, and save up some money. Then its off to likely:

OKC
SLC
Dallas
Austin
Phoenix

Probably in that order.

If I had no parental family support, its almost 100% I'd go into the military.

I actually REALLY don't understand the living in the car thing.

How obtuse. You cannot blame any of this on "MAGA." California's homeless and housing issues all arose under long term Dem rule.

Many states give in-state tuition to illegals.
