You’ve got that one backwards. Obama and Kerry were working with the Saudis to supply and arm jihadis from al Quaida and ISIS in a bid to overthrow Assad. Putin’s boys stepped in to prevent that, since if Assad fell, SA would install a puppet that would let them build a gas pipeline through Syria and Turkey to Europe and compete with Russia for EU energy money. Obama was just supporting SA’s bid because of petro dollar.
You could argue that the saudis wouldn’t have caused all that disruption and war and chaos without the tacit “ok” from the Obama administration, and that effectively Obama is to blame for all the war and genocide and refugees that followed.
