Why don't tech companies just build housing into their office buildings. Just have housing on one level and offices on another.

No honor amongst LibbyFuck Royalty. Why aren't they grateful for their two bit welfare check favelas? How dare they contaminate the royal lawns.

Who needs to park with a self-driving car? Tesla, circle the city for 8 hours while I get some shut-eye. Fetch-me-sammy service means no need for an oven. Expect strong growth for bathe and wipe me service providers.

Google has nap pods.

Maybe instead of going home, just setup in one of these and wash up in the restroom the next morning.

... she studied psychology, then moved to Atlanta where she rented a townhouse for $1,050 a month.

She applied online to be a Google security guard...

Soo, she got a college degree but then decided to move from one of the cheapest big cities in US to one of the most expensive areas in the country to work as a security guard... and all this is somehow Google's fault?

WTAF?

Because they are not in apartment renting business, duh. Google pays VERY well. Go check Glassdoor or Blind if you don't believe me. IIRC median yearly pay there is north of $200K.

Is 200k enough there, I wouldn't take that? I have a friend at amazon turn down google, facebook, ect because of this exact thing. If the built mixed office/housing it would also cut down on traffic. Maybe they need to build up like the downtown of major cities use to be with commercial on bottom and residential on top.

More than enough to not even remotely consider living in a fucking RV on the side of a road.
9   Booger   2019 May 21, 3:44pm

In a quiet neighborhood near Google’s headquarters last month, rusty, oleaginous sewage was seeping from a parked RV onto the otherwise pristine street.

San Francisco, part 2.

You have a point.

Peninsula version of SF's poop on the streets problem.

Homeless people living on the streets, their poop on the streets.

Maybe homeless whacked out on drugs in SF, maybe employed homeless living like gypsies in Beater RV's. They're more alike than not.

Hotels at negotiated rate of $150 per night x 30 per day = 4500 a month. Free breakfast, free room upkeep, some have free booze most evenings, etc. The suite hotels will shop for you and stock your refrig.

$180k/year = $15k per month, so your housing cost is about 1/3 of income. Fairly typical?

Did that towards the end of the dot-come boom in 2000-2001. Was great. Living in a hotel downtown on the peninsula with free upkeep for the same price as renting.

Right. The net income after being raped by rent/mortgage, child/health care, CA and SFBA taxes to pay for hobos shitting on your cars and in front of your door and uninsured illegals rampaging and pillaging through your hoods is surprisingly low.

Still far cry from these idiotic sob stories about "being unable to afford to live anywhere except in an old van by the river".

Agreed. These stories are stupid. But they do make some sense if you factor in the sense of entitlement in SFBA people, and the modern American womyn in general. They want everything, a nice place to live, money to go out literally every night, take Uber for getting from A to B no matter how short the distance, and go on nice vacations at least 5 times a year. These stories are fabricated so they can feel entitled to more monies because look some are living in vans. If the whole culture wouldn't be so pervasively peak-consumerism and keeping up with the Joneses oriented, prices for everything would come down 25%-50% and many "services" such as delivering 100 different types of food to your door would simply vanish. And nobody would buy an iphone when you can have a phone with equal functionality and experience for less than half the price.
