Trump set to win in 2020, which makes sense given his massive successes with the economy and foreign policy

Trump was a massive underdog in 2016, but he’ll likely enter the 2020 election as the pretty clear betting favorite. Some in his own party have reportedly toyed with the idea of trying to run for the Republican nomination against the incumbent president, but the most likely outcome here is Trump once again running in the next election atop the ticket.

That alone gives him a massive edge over every other candidate in the field. We are so early in the process that betting on any of Trump’s potential opponents comes with massive risk. Someone like Biden or O’Rourke may eventually secure the Democratic nomination, but we have no idea what’s going to happen between now and the Democratic Convention in the summer of 2020.

Just think back to 2016, when Trump was the underdog to other Republican candidates, notably Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz. Many at the time believed that Bush was the clear frontrunner, thanks in large part to his family’s lengthy history in the Oval Office. Bush had been seen as the “next in line” for quite some time, and he was popular enough within his own party.

We know what happened, of course. Trump upended the entire field of contenders and breezed his way to the nomination and eventually eked out a win in the general election. Unless some sort of scandal causes his removal from office between now and then, Trump seems very likely to be on the ballot in the fall of 2020. ...

If you want a safe bet, just take Trump at +150. It’s tough to get a read on the Democratic field with so many names in the race, but we will get some clarity as some decide to drop out within the next year or so.

In any case, the last two and half years have been fucking GLORIOUS for the economy, foreign policy, and freedom from PC oppression. Trump deserves massive credit for all that. Truly among the best US presidents ever, and all the liberal tears of rage and impotence have been sweet sweet nectar for everyone who dared to question the globalist agenda.

I don't get it. The trade war with China was bipartisan. It means that it makes no difference who president is.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, however, from a non-political person's POV, the Dems were the party of Hillary and thus, paid the price for her arrogance and self-pity.

And now, as a result of not having learned anything, since 2017, they continue on Hillary's way but through a newer crop of idiots, who tout the same party one-liners about identity politics, the lie that women get paid less than men (if they worked the same no of hours), that Trump is sleazy (something which was known since 1985), etc, etc.

Therefore, Trump will win unless we have a 30% stock market crash followed by a major recession by mid-2020.

If the economy is still storming ahead November 2020, Trump will say it's his policies and his opponent will give Obama the credit. If the economy crashes before then, it'll be "all Trump's fault" etc.

Frankly, I think there are too many variables between now and then to predict. It's mostly political theater, but maybe some anti-Trump initiative will stick with more than the anti-Trump crowd. Or will Facebook/Google/Twitter succeed in political interference on a massive scale? (Or maybe they already have and we don't even know it!) . Will we have California levels of vote harvesting country-wide? So many things can happen between now and then.

No it wasn't. The Dems criticized and still criticize the Trade War. In fact, it was a campaign theme for them in both 2016 and 2018. Only in the past few weeks has their criticism been more muted.

Trump should win and he does deserve some credit for the improving USA economy and wage growth for Americans.

Whether or not he will be given proper credit will be seen; the media is 100% opposed to Trump, as is the political class or "deep state".

We have been victims of a trade mugging by China for years; now when Trump decides to fight back it's a war. Good, a war is better than doing nothing.

If Trump wins again I will definitely be celebrating and my net worth will probably easily afford the party.

I think so too. Economy is doing well, no reason not to vote for him.

What do democrats have? Oh yeah, faggots, lesbian feminists, and anti American muslims running around screaming obscenities, united by a very thin string issue of simply being the losers.

MAGA will occur!

I get it that you voted for him and want to believe that therefore he's great. But the facts don't support that point of view.

For one thing, the economy is substantially independent of the Presidents actions. Although I will grant you that Trumps tax cuts that largely went to corporations and the wealthy did stimulate the stock market, and the economy somewhat, for what is mostly a continuation of the trend established during the Obama years.

But does is the economy good enough to be worth $1.2 trillion annual deficits ? I say no. In my opinion which would be hard to refute, the economy is in the riskiest footing it has ever been in.

As for foriegn policy ? Only Trump Cucks believe that North Korea or Iran are any kind of success. Same can be said about his tarrifs.

How good things are (NOT THAT GOOD), is arguably in spite of Trump rather than becasue of him.

THe one hope you have is that when congress uncovers a lot of shady and fraudulent dealings, likely even criminal behavior on the part of Trump,, Fox and Brietbart will help the deplorables to somehow turn that in to a positive, and just more unfair meanie poopie behavior on the part of the liberal media..
10   marcus   2019 May 20, 9:33pm

I'm willing to bet that Trump will not be reelected in 2020, or that he will possibly even resign before then.

Yeah, Iran Deal was a stunning success for Obama. They sure went back to enriching Uranium pretty quick! That and their own internal memos were chortling about how they tricked Obama and Kerry and were going to resume enrichment the moment the very limited inspection regime stopped, while they got the money upfront.

North Korea is another front in the China Rivalry.

And Budget deficits ultimately come from Trade Deficits.

I don't understand this sentence. Are things good or not? If they are good, it's not because of Trump? If they are bad, it's because of Trump? Just say Trump sucks next time as usual.

And if things aren't good for you, go somewhere they are. Complaining about it ain't doing a damn thing. Trump is an asshole, get over it. Some people must have had some pretty pampered upbringings to get so hot and bothered by a loudmouth.

Very easy to disprove., TRade deficits were screaming higher when they were balancing the budget in the late 90s.

Very easy to prove.

When we didn't have a trade deficit, we didn't have a budget deficit. Since we began massively increasing our trade deficit, we've had growing budget deficits.

The only period that was exceptional is the late 90s, when the internet boom - easily comparable in once-in-a-lifetime impact to the arrival of Railroads - computer services were still being largely produced domestically before outsourcing to India began in the 2000s and after a big round of Social Welfare cuts. But it's an exception that proves the rule, since US Companies reacted by aggressively outsourcing and demanding and getting from Congress hundreds of thousands of insourcing visas, so the budget deficit went right back to exploding like it had been since Balanced Trade was abandoned entirely in the early 90s. By 2000 pretty much all computer components and final assembly as well as a great deal of development and service was being done outside the USA.

Imagine if Microsoft, Quicken, SAP, HP, etc. Software Development and Customer Service was all US based and Indians and Germans had to call a US Company for service and upgrades and customization.

I just feel like a lot of the Trump haters are completely lost now that Mueller didn't come back with some nasty report and a sitting President was tossed out. If Trump hurts your feelings and you think he is effecting your life, a visit to the head doc may be in order. He's a womanizing (no different than Clinton) loudmouth that just so happens to be your President and didn't get indicted. Move on. Love him or hate him, I think this chapter has been finished.

So sweet! It’s hard not to feel an overdose of schadenfreud when these vile people get frustrated to tears at their own ineffectual attempts to shame everyone into adopting their insane and contradictory positions.

Oh good! If you’re placing your bet that way, (with your history of being 100% wrong) it’s an extremely safe bet to put money on Trump!

War? To me it's not a war until you at least have some bullets flying...I think it should more correctly (but much less dramatically) be termed a TRADE RENEGOTIATION. When someone starts firing some missles, then we'll start calling it a WAR.

Hey Big Frank, the what is offered without evidence is dismissed without evidence. The job of pushing the claim is on the promoter, not the audience.

OccasionalCortex says
Trade deficits and budget deficits are two entirely different things.

And we allow Marcus TO TEACH kids?

My argument is that they're related. If you're borrowing big to import, you'll borrow big to fund the government. Throughout history, big net importers have ended up being big spenders and vice-versa.

Biden says "Make America Normal Again".

But Normal was the belittling of native born Americans and worship of refugees from Somalia and Iraq.

Normal was the aggressive outsourcing of American Industry, insisting nothing could be done.

Normal was the mass importation of Chinese Products, most tariff free, and increasingly high value added and loaded with Chicom embedded Spyware.

Normal was unless interventions in Libya and Iraq that cost billions and fixed nothing.

Normal was pushing abortion to the point of legalizing infanticide, aka "Post Birth Abortion" on a national level.

Normal was serious discussion about the US Middle Class paying reparations for every Turd World Nation.

Normal was celebrating the decline of classic "Whiteness" and celebrating lazy, unproductive, corrupt, criminal and surly third worlders, who like Manhattan Beggars, have their hand out and get in your face demanding money while insulting you.

Normal was embracing of unneeded lowest-level STEM workers and massive numbers of unneeded unskilled migrants with no end in sight.

Normal was the continuing promulgation of laws punishing personal beliefs, such as 'misgendering' by calling a Man a "He" when he has Male Parts.

Normal was accepting we'd "Never see 3% GDP growth Again" and "What magic want does he have... the jobs are never coming back."

Keep America Great Instead. Vote Trump 2020.

Yes, I've had several events myself, and there was at least one without me in the East Bay. Unfortunately, one crazy said he was going to bring a gun when I last organized a meetup, so that was the end of it.

It was a Hillary supporter.
