Officials at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) are evaluating how to best address the growing issue of homeless people taking shelter in the air hub, the latest challenge stemming from the northern California city’s homelessness crisis.

Earlier this week, Fox 2 KTVU reported that SFO is experiencing a recent “surge” of homeless people taking refuge in the busy airport; many are said to arrive in the middle of the night via BART trains south from the city, as per the San Francisco Chronicle. ...

For example, a former airport employee told the outlet that she went everywhere with a “buddy” in the early hours of her shifts – apparently as a safety precaution – given the amount of homeless people she’d encounter, especially during bad weather. ...

An official with the San Francisco Coalition on Homelessness, Jennifer Freidenbach, said it wasn’t a shock that homeless populations would take refuge in SFO, given the deficit of affordable housing in San Fran and lack of room in many shelters.

Sounds like some good opportunity for drug franchises at SFO. Release the cartels!

I get the climate and why homelessness is prevalent in CA, but fuck? The airport? Seems like enforcement of normal things doesn't exist in CA much. Not sure how you guys do it. Winter sucks here in the midwest, but there's a platter of shit going on in CA when you account for all the shit (literally) talking about the state I see on Patnet. If you have marketable skills, why not just move? Climate is a poor excuse in my book. I mean Alaska does have a population, right? They need tech guys too. Along with a lot of other states that have climates within reason of CA standards.

Homeless taking over something is like so totally California ?

Lol. Leftist politicians like Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garbagecetti have intentionally ignored the homeless to make political hay and now the problem has gotten so big the idiots don’t know how to handle it. Instead they toss cash at shady nonprofits that are basically pseudo Gov agencies and fatten the wallets of those “outreach” groups while the poor and middle class suffer with non stop growth of homeless encampments.

One of my Daughter's friends moved out to California last year. She's back and damn happy to be back. She said it was brutal.
She said people live homeless like it's a game. She saw this homeless kid a few years younger than her anyway. And thought he was homeless well he gave off the full appearance that he was homeless. She felt sorry for him, bought him a meal to go where she was eating at. When she left the restaurant she gave it to him. He got outraged for her assuming he was homeless. He was just panhandling for money not food and how dare her to assume he was homeless.

Bingo. What's missing is enforcement. There's a sort of institutional spinelessness that seems to be chic in CA. Not sure why.

Forcibly moving homeless out of airports in CA is mean and will not be tolerated!

It creates jobs for thousands of bureacrats, both in government agencies and "non-profits" which suck from the government's teat.

Like homeless taking over the subways in New York.

This is how the original hippies in the late 60's acted. They weren't in any real sense homeless, just had the romantic idea of living on the streets for some made up idea about finding themselves or their parents didn't understand them.

Again, this is right out of 1969 when the college campuses were assaulted and the authorities just stood around and let it happen.

There'll be passed out bums on the carousels while the tourist collect their luggage, shit streaking the chairs, skels shooting up in the bathrooms, and spare changing psychos raving and following people around until they get money. Welcome to San Francisco.

Homeless in San Francisco is a "fabricated crises". "It is cruel, immoral and inhumane" to remove them from airport. It's "unconstitutional."

Yep. Why tourist should wait until arriving to the SF proper when they can start having "SF experience" right away at the fucking airport? Makes perfect sense.

I worked with a few agencies. It's fucking insane how much backscratching there is. They don't do shit without a kickback in return. Fucking hate them all.

How is tourism in SF? Went a long time ago and currently have zero interest in going there and I actually do enjoy cities. Outside of a layover going to Hawaii or as a jumping off point to Nor Cal, fuck it. Anyone want to make me go? Or am I asking for a unicorn to shit gold?

No fucking idea.

There are still a lot of tourists in SF. The natural beauty of the place overwhelms the shit and needles parts. Well, maybe families with kids are not going to want to come here, but plenty of young adults do, and perhaps even revel in the shitty bits. It's kind of fashionable in a way.
21   FortWayneAsNancyPelosiHaircut   2019 Apr 18, 9:02pm

I guess according to leftists and ACLU unless you can shit on the streets and shoot in plain view for children to see, while discarding needles... freedom has no meaning.

I don't think you're wrong here, but so do tons of parts of the West Coast as far as natural beauty goes. I can see the same things in a lot of places from Canada to Mexico and miss the needles, shit and used condoms.

It was 15 years ago, but my 2 visits to the Bay Area have been negative and I really have no interest in returning in my lifetime. Not looking to bash the place, just my observation and also taking in a lot of the bitching I see here and elsewhere about the area. Not my cup of tea. Same with NYC. That place is fucking trash.

Am I right that SFO is pretty much an island as far as the homeless are concerned? There would be nothing of interest within walking distance of the airport. Thus, if homeless are there, they are just there in the building, 24/7/365, moving between hanging out on the carpet, using the restrooms, and panhandling. I assume they wouldn't get past security, so they are really just in the front part of the building at the ticket and baggage lines.
24   FortWayneAsNancyPelosiHaircut   2019 Apr 19, 8:51am

next step is to trick them to get into a giant cargo plane.
fly that plane off to Africa somewhere and drop them all off (tell them it's outside of SF, they won't know a difference for at least a day).

Best plan ever.
