In an article falsely linking Stoicism with Asceticism, The Week leaves this Gem:

It's also curious, and a little chilling, that this rewrite of the tech elite lifestyle has come about at a time when powerful influencers and innovators are seeing their inventions harnessed by terrible people who do and say terrible things. In Dorsey's case, he's created a platform that has allowed populists, alt-right types, and Russian bots to spread their messages to vast new audiences, creating more chaos than he could possibly have imagined. Twitter undeniably helped make Donald Trump president and gave Britain's Brexiteers a stage. And it's used daily to mete out public shamings and takedowns. Dorsey has experienced how easy it is to create global pandemonium with a laptop and a smidgen of chutzpah.

The public just CANNOT responsibly handle true information. The organs of public communication need to be repurposed at all levels to make sure they have guidance and instruction on proper thinking. WE know what's best, just lean back for the ride.

It's really become painful to try to shelve the PC gauntlet in popular media to suspend belief. The agendas and fake realities stick out like thorns.

I watched the movie "Ready Player One", about the future of computer games and of course, when the anonymous avatars were lifted, the main character's best online friend turns out to be black and sexually ambiguous a la Michelle Obama. Spielberg has bit the Agitprop Weenie.

Of course, the standard evil corporate malfeasors are in there. It's strange to see Corporate Hollywood Monolith try to convey that their product is rallyng as the friend of the people by portraying business as evil.

"Now, there you went and did it! Thinking for yourself again. This is gonna hurt you more than it hurts me!"

Exhibit 86:

My wife is Peruvian and as such she watches mostly Univision and Telemundo.
I read this story and told her "Wow Alan Garcia shot himself in the head today as the authorities swept into arrest him."
She said, "I heard that, I thought it was a Lie."

So I walked into the other room got curios and came back. "Why would you think that was a lie where did you hear about it?"

She said "Because always everything they say on the news about anything to do with politics is a Lie."

I'll give you three guesses what politics she heard about for the last two years that all turned out to be lies. So much so now, to the point, she doesn't trust one single news story from them. Even the plausible ones.

In Spielberg’s defense, the book he used for source material specifically spelled that situation out as a big reveal. Sort of a like...”you never know who people are online” coupled with “people’s exteriors don’t matter for true friendship.”

Be kind to poor journalists, who had a monopoly on bullshitting, but are now surpassed on thickness, extent and stinkiness by demagogues, alt-right trolls, SJW strident snowflakes, Russian bots and random conspiraciousnists.
It's tough to be a paid-for globalist elitist these days.
