An article about boys privately ranking their female classmates on attractiveness? Its almost like they are making the case for separation of the sexes in education and the workplace.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2019/03/26/teen-boys-rated-their-female-classmates-based-looks-girls-fought-back/?utm_term=.f5f46a8edeb3

How is this empowering? We are not only teaching young women that male sexual interest is toxic, BUT also teaching them to conflate outrage as virtue. THIS CAN NOT END WELL.

OH, i fully expect to be kicked off the Washpo comment system. My comment was "6.1, 6.4, 7.3" I mean, boys will be boys right?

Rating women like animals is definitively distasteful.
But these girls fail to recognize their own roles in this culture: They could learn that they are not their bodies, that what others think of them is irrelevant. They could learn not to care. But they don't want that.
In their own culture, it is super important what others think. It's super important to be beautiful, and above all it is super important to be desired by males. They put this pressure on themselves. But they do not want to abandon this culture , and adults and even feminists do not want them to abandon it either.

They feel this pressure and don't like it, but they still want to be desired and loved for how they look, and they fail to see the contradiction.
Instead they reach a weird place where they think being desired and loved for how they look is simply due to them, independently of how they actually look.
It's just due to them by men. Period.

Women will always be judged first of all on how objectively beautiful they are.

It has always been that way, because that is what worked to bring us down to the present day. Men are inherently interested in the fertility of women. Beauty is just a reflection of fertility. All the correlates of hotness are correlates of fertility: youth, slimness, clear skin, long hair, facial symmetry, and on and on.

And female beauty is indeed objective. Men consistently rank women within very narrow bands.

Beauty is bait for men to enter into relationships. No beauty judgement means no relationship, no children, no survival.

I dont know wtf they're complaining about. The lowest rated girl had a 5.5 .

The boys are quite generous w how they judge their female classmates.

The girls however see the boys as villains in waiting.

Its classic misandry. #youtoo

Not true.

A woman judges a man by his "character", i.e. how big bank his bank account is and/or his societal status. The Alpha Male is always virtuos.

Exactly. Actual physical appearance is a distant second in men.

Both sexes consistently assume the other side wants what they want:

Men assume women are interested in physical beauty, but they aren't. Women are interested in success and dominance in men above all else.
Women assume men are interested in financial success and dominance, but they aren't. Men are interested in beauty in women above all else.

A few of our female grad students ranked men 0-10 and were highly amused by themselves. Should I find it highly offensive, or should I not care?

Not in high school.

In high school it’s all looks and popularity.

Once life hits em hard after they are on their own, they start looking for a stable financial partner. Constantly judging.

Can we blame Trump? I feel there is a nice decision tree here to be made. :)

Depends where you're ranked, ofc.

The alpha is never offended and always virtuous.

It's interesting because my initial reaction was "toughen up, girls...everyone rates everyone". After thinking about it, I think the girls are right BECAUSE it was thrown in their face as an "official" document circulated throughout the school. If a few girls or boys were sitting around ranking the opposite sex on their own time, that's fine...but to have it formalized in a environment where people are there to learn, I think is wrong and a form of sexual harassment.

At least they know where they rank on some kids list (if they get offended by that, they won’t be able to handle life).

I know I raised my daughter to be better than that, she also knows how to rank everyone on scale of 1-10. Because life ranks people always. So she strives to be at the top of the scale. The girls in the story on the other hand sound pathetic. And it’s all right, everyone can’t be a winner. I feel bad they are being taught that looks don’t matter, when they clearly do.

Women do everything they can to attract men on the basis of shallow metrics of looks and beauty. When men approach, women feign disgust and contempt and start shit testing. If men persist, women negotiate highest possible price in exchange for?

Men all have that ugly, spitting snake they want women to Ick suck.

It's just the evolutionary Arab haggling over sex and resources. Women know pretty close where they belong in the attractiveness hierarchy and charge accordingly. In case nobody noticed, being fickle, arbitrary, contradictory and unpredictable is part of their forte. Anything they say or feign can wind up being the opposite in a New York second.

"Deploy the shit testing, there's an incoming!"

Eaxctly. Young people are totally obsessed with cool, popular, looks and fashion. They are under pressure to compete on how they rank on these traits.
There is something deeply unhealthy about a culture that is so obsessive about such shallow measures of humanity.
Things are not like this in other countries in my experience. This is specific to American culture.
And it's probably all greatly reinforced by social media. Comparing oneself constantly to peers has never been easier.

But this is exactly what they are not complaining about.
This is totally missing from their diagnostic.

A minus 4 IQ is the starting point. They must also have their egos in control.

Your standards are too high. Try starting with minus 24 IQ. It doesn't pay to be a snob.
