Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will reopen an idled Detroit engine plant, invest billions into five existing Michigan plants, and create about 6,500 U.S. auto jobs in a move reflecting President Trump’s economic nationalist agenda.

In an announcement Tuesday, Fiat Chrysler executives revealed their plans to reopen the Mack Avenue II engine plant in Detroit by investing $1.6 billion into the site to convert it into a manufacturing plant for the company’s Jeep Grand Cherokee and a new three-row full size Jeep SUV. The investment to reopen the plant — which was shuttered nearly seven years ago leaving hundreds of American workers laid off — will create 3,850 U.S. jobs.

The first plant to open in Detroit since 1991.

Shutdown during the "Notcovery" of 2012 and never reopened - until Tariff Power kicked in.

A few thousand other jobs will be added in the US by Fiat-Chrysler, including around 2000 jobs centered around Jeep production.

Trump does bring jobs that's for sure.

Can't say that about Democrats, they seem to destroy jobs with "equality to the bottom".

Nope, Tariff Threats:

Fiat Chrysler’s decision to expand U.S. production came in response to Trump’s use of tariffs to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States after years of working and middle class job outsourcing by multinational corporations through multilateral free trade deals.

When Trump threatened last year to impose a 25 percent tariff on pickup trucks made in Mexico, Fiat Chrysler executives considered moving all Ram truck production out of Mexico.

Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley told Reuters last October that in light of Trump’s tentative USMCA trade agreement, the company decided to keep its heavy-duty truck production plant in Saltillo, Mexico, while also expanding production and jobs in the U.S.

“This massive FCA investment in Detroit shows that the president’s aggressive trade strategy is working to rebuild manufacturing and to make the United States the premier place to manufacture automobiles,” Coalition for a Prosperous America CEO Michael Stumo told Breitbart News. “The fact that they are expanding the manufacture of engines and complete vehicles in Michigan shows that the steel tariffs were not an impediment to growth. Thousands more jobs will be created to supply these new plants.”

“President Trump’s threat of auto tariffs likely supported this major investment decision,” Stumo continued. “If the tariffs on imported autos are imposed, it will help FCA’s Jeep and Ram further increase sales and market share, benefitting the Michigan economy and creating even more good paying jobs.”

Funny - Potus was taking credit for shit he never influenced when he rolled in the White House but that is neither here nor there right now - but I will let you in on a little secret....

Should someone be inclined to do just a tiny bit of reading - not much - this is not a done deal.

Hint - The Detroit Free Press or the Detroit News

There are some caveats unresolved and the taxpayers of Michigan have not been made aware yet of how much each one of these jobs will cost them - they don't even know how much each one of the FoMoCO jobs have cost them.

Then with Auto industry looking a bit long in the tooth these wonderful announcements are subject to change ala FoxConn and those still missing U.S. Steel jobs that the base was touting not too long ago

Mean to tell me Carnegie, Rockefeller, Gould, Vanderbilt, Ford, Mellon etc. just sat idly by and let those spiffy tariffs do all the work ?

Something else about those big beautiful tariffs - we are all paying for them - not the countries they are imposed on - and we will never see the Golden Days of U.S. Manufacturing circa 1950s 1960s etc - again - period.

Screaming MAGA, Winning, TDS, etc - not going to bring us back to those days - go to school, get a BS in nursing and then work to become a nurse practitioner

The MBAs - Management by Assholes ? The vast majority have never learned to become MBWA - that might have saved us a lot of pain

Churning out more of the same from the diploma mills isn't going to do it - not unless there is some fundamental seismic shift in thinking and approach.

Since the only thing that matters is the next quarter's numbers - you can kiss that dream good bye as well

MBWA - Management By Walking Around - you can not know what the hell is going on in the workplace sitting on your fat ass behind a desk starting into a smart phone or pc screen or having a phone become another appendage.

Failure to go out and spend time with the rank and file who are actually doing the work, know what is fucked up and most likely how to fix it (cheaply as well) would have been a big help.

That means all the way from the people who clean the toilets, floors and offices and continuing on up.

Failure to utilize this simple concept is one reason that Japanese rolled over us in so many different sectors - and we still have not learned
