A strong majority of Americans favor due process protections for students accused of sexual assault: http://bipp.blogs.bucknell.edu/files/2017/09/BIPP-Higher-Ed-Toplines.pdf

So persons were surprised by Sen. Patty Murray of Washington who recently tweeted that Dept. of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos “wants to weaken student protections so — an unmarried mother may be denied admission, a woman could be thrown out for using birth control & an LGBTQ student could be subjected to cruel punishment at school.” https://www.chronicle.com/article/DeVos-Calls-Democratic/244809

Huh?

Federal bureaucrats normally don’t argue with lawmakers in public. But Murray went too far. So DeVos tweeted back, “This is completely false and you know it, @PattyMurray. It’s also unbecoming and irresponsible of a U.S. Senator to sow fear and falsehood. Our efforts will restore #DueProcess and support all students, including survivors.”

Let’s all express our thanks to Secretary DeVos for her vigorous defense of due process: Tweet @BetsyDeVosED or call 202-401-3000. Tell her #TitleIXDueProcessMatters.

Sincerely,
The SAVE Team

"Believe the woman" is the opposite of fair. It is the opposite of justice. We need to stop the corruption of our legal system by female chauvinists. Everyone deserves a fair trial. No one should be subject to a Title IX kangaroo court's whims.

Sen. Patty Murray should keep in mind that historically the absence of , or removal of due process guarantees comes full-circle and engulfs those supporting the lack of due process. No doubt, her tweets will be different when this happens.
