I worked for a few years on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Once we did a shot where the contactor tried to drywall a roughly 10x20 room as fast as possible. He squeezed like 40 people into the room and they went bananas, like a bunch of locusts in reverse. Took em 15 minutes, taped and floated. Wasn't top quality, to be sure, but the timelapse shot was pretty amazing!

It only took 6 days of trial and error in programming before it could get that one section in. And $300 in electric costs. ;)

Probably all the dimensions are hardcoded in the program.
