I think Trump & others can post an order saying that human resources and hiring managers cannot use a college degree, as a filter in hiring new employees.

In other words, unless the company can list "advanced fluid dynamics" as an actual part of the job and yes, this will be audited by the Dept of Energy, then they cannot require that the applicant have a BS/MS in chemical or mechanical engineering.

Basically, the idea here is that the great 'open secret' where a vast majority of back office workers use less than 10% of what they'd learned in college for their respective jobs is now out in the open.

Sure, it'll force ppl (or computers) to scan/read more resumes but it'll remove the biggest waste of resources, ala $200K for a bachelors degree, out of the system, when its patently obvious that such a degree isn't needed.

Basically, what'll happen is that you'll have the specialists go to places like Georgia Tech and the prestige mongers go to places like Harvard but for the most part, there won't be a crowd in the middle.

So in effect, the management consulting firms will have to solicit resumes from ppl on the Princeton debating team, since officially, they can't require that they have a BA from Princeton.

Since prestige mongers like brand names, the end result will be the same, Ivy league grads will work in management consulting and financial services.

Where the effect will be more pronounced is in corporate centers like Reebok, Staples, State St, etc, were for the most part, the average workers is a dolt who doesn't use anything he's learned in school.

Good idea because in the past, they used to be called 'Personnel' and wasn't such a scam for a department.

I don't know of a single time government has ever made anything better. Private business's have the right to set any hiring criteria they want. The smart ones will look for what matters and succeed. The dumb ones will continue to insist on outmoded qualifications, and go the way of the dinosaur.

I don't know a single friend or family member including myself who works in computers and has a BS.

The real issue is government bailout of large corporations (e.g. financial institutions), favoring large corporations when doling out government contracts (bureaucrats spending other people's money sticking to "nobody ever gets fired for buying IBM") and government subsidized services (such as medicine and social working) that result in consolidations among service providers.

That is the real reason why big businesses have bloated "human resources" department hiring people based on paper qualifications. Otherwise, if a real business got so big as having to rely on costly paper requirement when hiring, it would have lost its lunch to more nimble competitors.

I agree. HR departments are the enforcers of political correctness in corporations. A whole kangaroo court system unto themselves.
