I know a guy who commutes over 160 miles through traffic each dayAt the last place I worked which was a division of Cigna Health Care in Carrollton, Eunice commuted 125 miles one way each day--I couldn't comprehend it. Of course, her cars were used up quickly. I think it was because she was close to retirement and didn't have any choice when the company moved from where it was when she first started working there. Anyway, we both got severed out at the same time so she doesn't have to worry about it anymore. Rising at 6:00 a.m. is no problem, but the company where I worked for 30 years transferred our department to Energy Square in 1991, just four miles from me, two miles closer than downtown. But downtown required a 25 minute bus ride, so it was no problem. If I rode the bus to Energy Square, it was an hour trip with one transfer, a hassle in bad weather, so I just chose to drive most of the time since we had free covered parking.
How can anyone be productive at work while commuting 4 hours a day? It's cruel and unusual punishment.
I commuted 3 hours a day at one time, but it was temporary and I was 19 years old.
I don’t think the lady in this article understands how much damage she is doing to herself with the long commute and lack of sleep..
