SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea says it has suspended nuclear and long-range missile tests and plans to close its nuclear test site.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said the suspension of nuclear and ICBM tests went into effect Saturday.

The country says it’s making the move to shift its national focus and improve its economy.

The announcements came days before North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in in a border truce village for a rare summit aimed at resolving the nuclear standoff with Pyongyang.

The North’s decisions were made in a meeting of the ruling party’s full Central Committee which had convened to discuss a “new stage” of policies.

This is all a distraction from Trump's misremembering of "Wendy Wasserman-Schultz", a far more important issue according the the Media and Leftist Social Media (but I nearly repeat myself)

If this is True and North Korea keeps their word, it's an epic win for The Donald.

They have never kept their word in the past, which is why we can never trust them and let our guards down. Trump's strategy is brilliant.....No carrots just sticks, until there is 100% denuclearization, followed by inspections at our will.

True. Which is why one should expect to see eleven more Stormy Daniels stories dominating the media while this goes down. #TrumpDerangementSyndrome

All Trump has to do is boast about having slept with every whore in the country. That will shut them up.

So far, they sleep with him for free, but he has to pay them not to brag. And for a real coupe, he got a Jewish attorney to foot the bill for one of them, and a gossip rag to pay for the other.

Trump will likely find a way to claim that the “maximum pressure” technique worked—even if the results from any Kim-Trump meeting fall far short of current rhetoric about denuclearization.

First, assert that Trump's Tactics will make things worse, which was the stance taken by many on this board and had a an entire thread based on that assertion.
Next, when they succeed in a massive diplomatic breakthrough and real commitments on the ground, pooh pooh the idea that the breakthrough meetings will accomplish anything but words.
Then, pooh pooh that it was the Tough Stance that got us to a POTUS-Kim meeting, say it was the legacy of Obama, Ben Rhodes, etc.
Finally, ignore it and handwavium away the entire DPRK-ROC conflict and Kim's nukes as "No Biggie" "Eventually gonna happen anyway".

June 12th in Singapore.

It wasn't the legacy of Obama. It was the fact that Kim has a bomb and delivery system. Could he use some more testing and development to nail things down? Sure. But, he is a credible threat now, so he's achieved deterrence. Now, he's coming to the Table. He's not going to disarm, and give up his security system. Do you think that he is? What do you think that Trump has won?

Trump talked tough, but did nothing, and Kim got his weapon, which is what we have been trying to prevent. That's a loss, not a win. It can't be blamed on Trump, because most of the work probably happened during Bush/Obama, and earlier. But that's where we are.

Three hostages for starters.

North Korea has also halted all nuclear and missile tests in advance of the summit meeting. That's not nothing.

What have we given up other than a willingness to talk?

I am still pessimistic, but we are light years away from where we were just a month or two ago when many Liberals were complaining that Trump's "Fire and Fury" rhetoric was going to bring us WWIII.

North Korea’s official news agency has reported that the country has scheduled the demolition of the Punggye-ri nuclear test site ahead of talks with the United States next month.

Reuters reports that official Korean Central New Agency says that the site will be decommissioned between May 23rd and 25th, which would include “collapsing all of its tunnels with explosions, blocking its entrances,” and shutting down all of its observation and security facilities. The announcement comes ahead of scheduled talks between US President Donald Trump and DPRK Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore on June 12th. State media says that foreign journalists will be invited to witness the decommissioning.

...
The country conducted six nuclear tests between 2006 and September 2017, and claimed that final test was a hydrogen bomb.

The 3rd Hostage said, ‘it was a surreal moment, it really was, when we all realised that America had somehow elected Donald Trump to be their President. We had no news in prison of course.

It was like the ending of the ‘Planet of the Apes’ movie.

I just sank to my knees and screamed “my God! What have you done!!!

The TDS is so strong with this article. As if a hostage, being tortured and beaten and confined, would care who was the POTUS, as long as that person wasn’t a Kenyan do-nothing and got them out of there.
