In 2011, Kim Elsesser, a lecturer at UCLA, analyzed responses from more than 60,000 people and found that women—even those who were managers themselves—were more likely to want a male boss than a female one. The participants explained that female bosses are “emotional,” “catty,” or “bitchy.” (Men preferred male bosses too, but by a smaller margin than the female participants did.)

In a smaller survey of 142 law-firm secretaries—nearly all of whom were women—not one said she or he preferred working for a female partner, and only 3 percent indicated that they liked reporting to a female associate. (Nearly half had no preference.) “I avoid working for women because [they are] such a pain in the ass!” one woman said. In yet another study, women who reported to a female boss had more symptoms of distress, such as trouble sleeping and headaches, than those who worked for a man.

Seems pretty common from what my wife and friends have told me. I've never had a female boss but I have had female management that I've had to work with and they are the worse followed by men who act like women.

One additional reason women do not like reporting to women bosses is that these women bosses are very hard to manipulate!

Also, it is much harder to claim sexual harassment, when your boss is a woman. And you can't claim that she is discriminating against you because of your gender, because a woman would never do anything evil like that. What's a girl to do?

I hate the way female bosses remove and throw their tampons and menstrual pads on the floor and command you to push them around with your nose during employee evaluations.

Wonder what sexual harrasment will be like

I have had a female boss for the past 3 years. She was an elementary school teacher and has no science knowledge. It's sad watching her try to fake that she knows Freshman Physics. Thing is, we just make fun of her behind her back for it and ignore her half of the time. The Chemistry female faculty absolutely loathes her because she's higher up than them, even though they were infinitely better teachers and know way more than her.

This is what happens when diversity hires/raises become the norm. No-one loathes that more than the diverse employees who are actually qualified for the work.

When I did Carpet I preferred Contracting for Female Designers and Store owners. But that's working for a woman when you only see them before you go and when you come back to get paid for the job.
In an office environment where you're stuck in the office with them all day, I've only ever had one Male Boss that was as big of a Cunt as the many Bitch female bosses I've had.
BTW, some of the best Bosses I ever had were female in my second career as well. And the guy I mentioned before was one of the worst bosses I ever had. I regret leaving that job without sending him on his ass before I left.

Fascinating. I preferred it too, even when the woman was really cool. I always thought it was personal preference.

I’ve heard other women say the same thing.

I have been in female dominated environments for many years, and generally just avoided them as much as possible because they were so manipulative. Female bosses have to work hard against their instincts, which is to foster emotionally engaged favoritism to a few special children while also choosing some to persecute and henpeck relentlessly for no other reason except they can.

The rule was that two female employees will always learn to get along, but add a third, and invariably two will bond and start persecuting and plotting against the third. More female employees, ramp up the second scenario. Some of the cruelest work situations I have observed are bitch henpecking frenzy of women torturing other women they are jealous of in the workplace.

With men, women almost always play the sex and mommy card if they can. Contrary to the feminist crap, they become very miffed if they can't use their sex equity to promote themselves somehow and create a sticky situation for the men in their environment. Treat them like a neuter and they will likely take some kind of revenge on you, or just sulk. They also enjoy pitting men against each other based on seductive manipulation.

There was a reason they weren't allowed on ships.

However, if you have a lot of women to manage, hire yourself a cold, nasty IHL and she will keep them in line and enjoy the sadism involved. Just be prepared to pitch her out the window if she tries to come after you.

What I've noticed is that older or less attractive women managers are absolutely merciless to young and pretty women. They generally won't give them job offers, and if they nonetheless have to manage a beautiful young woman, that woman is definitely going to suffer.

The conflict is perhaps because younger women inherently have much greater power in the sexual market than older women do. So there is a conflict between the older woman's power in the organization, and her weakness in attracting the attention of the desirable men in the office.

Men on the other hand just grow in power both organizationally and in their sexual value to women as they age (up to a point). Older male bosses don't really fear sexual competition from younger rivals, because women generally go for the higher status guy in any situation. None of this is spoken, it's just understood.

As a man it helps tremendously to stay in shape, work out, smell and look good, while of course exercising caution and minimize conversations. Having my wildest years behind me, I did some crazy stuff that - with only minor ill-will after the fling ended - back then could have gotten me fired. Today I keep convos short and to a minimum and stay clear of workplace romance. Being happily taken helps as well. However rule number one for men is look good and buff, dress ok and smell good. If she is attracted to you you can get away with quite a bit, if you're in poor shape and ugly best not to talk at all to them.
