What Trump really did was give people a person to vote for who could (and did) beat Hilary. That is the most important contribution of the Trump presidency. He is not Her.

Reagan upheld traditional virtues of discipline, restraint, hard work and gracious self-effacement as essential to the nation's spiritual foundations. Although he repeatedly asserted that America's best days lay ahead of it, he never doubted America's greatness in the present as well as the past.

One of the great things about the Trump presidency is reading Liberals new found appreciation of past Republican presidents like Reagan, Bush 1 and 2.

Many of us are old enough to remember the liberals writing the same shit going out of their cotton picking minds over Reagan back in the 1980's. Let alone Bush II.

What's funny is the same people who bemoan Trump "Dismantling the Admin State" are the same ones whose solution to the new poverty in the Rustbelt and the destruction without replacement of trillions in infrastructure, productivity, real estate, etc. is "Fuck You, White Working Class Racists".

The Democrats are full of crap.

#MAGA is happening. Unemployment, low. Stock market, leaping. China, just lowered over 100 tariffs on US Goods.

MAGA bitches! MAGA!

He still hasn't undone half the mess Obama left this country with.

The Democrats have always had an answer.

Their policies and direction at this point are beyond smarter than the GOP, because they are the only policy being proposed in truth to do anything AT ALL for the Rustbelt. It takes more than words and fictitious incantations of "build that wall" and "clean coal".

The GOP, for 8 years, has been a party of arsonists trying to burn it all down. Now they are in charge of the fire house. Guess what? They are way out of practice in the business of actually governing. Their leadership couldn't make a policy on folding napkins for a formal dinner.

The issue for the Dem's answer is that it isn't message-able, in the sound byte attention spans of today. Fear, xenophobia, and mistrust of institutions won the day for 2016. We pay the price now for not electing better.

But, 2016 is over. 2017 almost is. It's far more relevant at this point to not re-litigate the election but instead ask what has 2017 brought the Rustbelt? What will 2018 bring? Has or will the GOP do anything for the people that supposedly voted them into power?

(my smug liberal smile goes right here)

The stock market highs, and minimal Chinese tariff removals do not put money in the pocket of most Ohioans, for example.

You can cheer the employment numbers all you like. We both know they are an imperfect measure. The truth is, the recovery in labor post the great recession, has been uneven and fostered even greater economic disparity.

Corporations, and the wealthy are getting exceedingly, sickeningly wealthy, while common people are under attack from a Tax bill, a Health care bill, and a host of other legislative ideologies which favor multi-millionaires and businesses (domestic policy disasters).

People feel pretty good right now! Yep. That's the result of "team blue".

Obama destroyed America while Merkle destroyed Europe. Trump is having to make the World Great Again.

Trump, by contrast, sees no American mission in the world

At least we dodged the Hillary bullet. She wanted to sell America to the highest bidders.
