I thought this might be about the total each Socialist Republican is scamming from the govt.

AF is correct. This is a giveaway not to the indigents, but to the owner class which will apply an appropriate “tax” such that they Hoover up the extra cash.

However, I’d anticipate more of this in the future, as automation and Artificial Intelligence take over more and more of the work humans used to do. Low skilled labor will be harder and harder to get, while income differentials between owner class and everyone else becomes ridiculous in the extreme. At some point, the government will decide to just mandate the owner class pay for care and upkeep of everyone who is unemployed, and we will have universal welfare for around 80% of the western world. The other 20% representing the best and brightest and hardest working will keep everything going and be rewarded suitably for their economic participation.

This is just another form of communism. Put people on a government dole, take away opportunities so their only choice is to live on government hand out, and exchange that hand out for votes. Aweful inhumane system.

When a corporation replaces you by a robot, and have robots do everything better than you can, your opportunities will indeed have been taken away.
This is the end point of capitalism.

If your job is replaced by a robot, YOU aren't working hard enough or looking for a position to make you an asset to the company. Only the "Liabilities" to the company will be replaced by robots.

"If you can't work like a robot your a liability". Great philosophy.

No, in fact it's stupid: Robots already surpass humans - all humans - for strength, agility, capacity to work in any condition, around the clock, and now are starting to surpass humans for sensory input. If you are studying to read x-rays, time to change discipline. Next will be basic reasoning, like programming and the like. Soon 90% of humans will be obsolete.

Again: the end point of capitalism.

Make that number more like 5-8%. Much of today's white collar workers are a bunch of MBA-ologist sinecures, who have little to offer the world.

The 8% crowd will be the creative types, whose work can't be done by expert systems for at least another century.
