We were so focused on the bombing that we seemed to have forgotten that an entire town in Texas was blown to bits by a fire at an industrial plant. Those people are suffering huge amounts - emotionally, physically and financially. The 23 million dollars that are pouring in to help the victims of the bombings with their costs is awesome.

but what about texas? what about the historical flooding in the Midwest? We are beholden to the 24-hour news cycle - and jaded because as quickly as something is mentioned, it goes by the wayside.

Hurricane Sandy victims lives were devastated, and will never recover. People lost jobs, homes, beloved pets and family members... A building collapses halfway around the world. A tsunami devastates the coast of small countries. Earthquakes, volcanoes, gang violence... But it's out of sight, out of mind.

Hug your family. Make that phone call. But we can't do it every time something in the world happens, because shit happens every minute of every day.

Live your life however you wish to and remember that it could all go away in a heartbeat. Investments are awesome, but they too can be gone in a flash (WorldCom, Enron, Bear Stearns, Madoff, Gordon Gekko....) Learn to live and appreciate what you have, not what you want.

BTW, I was in your neck of the woods last week JodyChunder. I waved to you as I drove toward the Pearblossom highway.

We also forgot about Psy and his Nuclear cap pistol.
