What would fund SSI then? You'd need to raise or eliminate the cap on earnings (or make a donut hole for the upper-middle class).
Otherwise, why not just eliminate the "tax"?
It was only meant to be a short-term stimulus. Unlike irresponsible Republicans, tax cuts can be temporary. Maybe they should always be?

I agree, but Obama said, anyone making under 250K, nothing changes, you wont feel a thing. he then said on a few occassions. "I repeat, if you make under 250K your taxes wont go up at all".
Romney was the guy that told the truth, and said he was going to cut out all of the breaks and cuts. To which Obama called him on, and said...
"So you're saying taxes will go up on everyone?" Romney thought a minute and said, "I guess that IS what I'm saying. "
To which Obama used as an opportunity to reiterate his stance that taxes wont go up on the middle class. Not one single dime.
This is going to be cute come 2014, and just wait until the mandate kicks in. It will be fireworks over Niagara falls.

That maybe true but the economy has had major inflation over the last 4 yrs especially on food and services, way over 2% a year. With inflation and now an additional 2-4% loss in pay people who should not be punished for the government propping up the society on behalf of the Banks and elites are now the fall guys.
It's awful.
Salaries have not moved and will not move, where is the 2% coming from ? Peoples Expenditure?

Social security tax will go up from 4.2% to 6.2% on first $113,700 of income. However, there's no 2% obamacare tax. What will happen is that singles with income of 200Gs or more and marrieds with income of 250Gs or more will pay additional 3.8% tax on ivestment income.

I think its obvious that barack was talking about income taxes, not payroll taxes. If "fellow stupid americans" didn't get it or didn't bother to research, that's on them, maybe they should watch less reality tv.

If you understand that the Republican's goal is to make government as small as possible, NOT to "balance the budget", their proposals all make complete sense.
These idiots would gladly accept a 100% reduction in revenue for a 50% reduction in spending.

Republicans don't want small government, they want government to be small when it does things they don't like, which doesn't really move the debt needle at all. If they wanted smaller government they would have done something about it when they had the power to do it.

They haven't had the power to do it. What they want is to end every non-defense program. They can't do that without popular support, which is why they're operating the way that they do:
- Get temporary tax cuts passed.
- Fight to make some or all of those cuts permanent.
- Force budget cuts to pay for the tax cuts.
- Insist that defense spending be protected.
- Add means testing to big social programs to turn people against them.
