A convoy of 10 tractor tailor trucks, carrying a load of Super sized Slushies and Big Gulps, came rolling into Times Square in Manhattan Wednesday evening. To the roar of a super sized thirsty crowd of New Yorkers. Mitt Romney was on the step rails of the lead truck and as the crowd silenced and the rigs air brakes engaged, Mitt Romney asked the battered crowed, "Who's thirsty?".

Paul Buttafuco a Manhattan parking attendant said it's the first sign of relief he's seen since Hurricane Sandy passed over the embattled city Monday. "It's like Bloomberg has forsaken us." he said as his sipped on the straw of his Cola flavored Slushy.

"We're going to take back this pansy Nanny town" Romney told the thirst quenched spectators... "and when I'm King around, this is just a sample of what you can expect from me.". "Hooray for the American!" a faint voice was heard from under a manhole cover. "Who said that?" asked Romney "I'm down here" Rosa Gonzales said in a faint voice. "I've been waiting for Obama to come rescue me, but I hear he's been tied up with Christie. I knew you wouldn't let us down."

"Someone get this woman a Sprite!" instructed Romney. He then walked off toward Broad street, as he was asked... "Hey where are you going?", "I'll be back, I'm going for Big Bites and Doritos" replied Mitt.

"U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!" was heard as his silhouette dissipated over the horizon.

Even when Mitt Romney cancels campaigning and works to provide Hurricane Sandy relief, the media elites are still dropping bombs on him

That's because Romney didn't stop campaigning. His campaign bought $5000 worth of food props to make it look like he inspires people to be self-less.

Despite the fact that he staged this campaign ploy, the Red Cross didn't even want canned goods. He has proven himself to be an idiot, and an opportunistic one at that.

The only reason the term "Liberal media" is mentioned is to use as a deflection device. This was perfected by McCarthy in the 50's. Say someone or some organization, news agency or whatever says something you don't like: "well they said that cuz they're the "Liberal Media". A convenient ploy to avoid confronting facts.

Well just look at CNN page, every major news event in the last 5 years, has had it's own special section on the top right. Sometimes two sections for two different stories. CNN has a special section for the election "ELECTION CENTER", but the Wake of Sandy section is mysteriously absent.

They've hyped far less important stories than this one for hundreds of stories just over the last year. They milk those stories for all they worth for weeks on end.

I'm getting the impression that as bad as the situation looks, the media is holding back to give a few days reprieve until election because they want to minimize negative impact and spin Obama.

It is hard to believe that underground flooding in NYC has not produced masses of drowned bodies from the populations living in the tunnels.

Salt water is extremely corrosive, the subways could be ruined indefinitely.

It will be interesting to hear the damage assessments AFTER the election. If you don't think politicians are cynical, that might prove the point.

CNN page right now. Yes they are also covering the election - it is also pretty important.

This stupid rant that the media is downplaying Sandy is a complete fail. Turn on any news channel - even MSNBC. It's practically wall to wall coverage. Lawrence O'Donnell did a story last night on how Staten Island is being ignored for the most part. BTW, Staten Island is the most conservative burrow in New York, but there was MSNBC pointing out the aid to them wasn't arriving fast enough.

As for Romney being "slammed" by MSNBC for collecting supplies, well he should have been. It was a lame effort to hold a campaign rally when his campaign said there would be no rallies. His campaign provided cans of food to empty handed attendees so that the could have something to give to Romney.

Instead of giving the Red Cross something they do not want or ask for (food), how about Romney saying that he would give the equivalent of one days worth of media buys? That would have been a couple million to the Red Cross. His campaign is cash rich and could have spared it.

But he wanted the phoney photo op and wanted to continue to campaign even though he said he wouldn't.

Sorry, but this election has demonstrated quite vividly that the news media are nothing more than insane organs of polemics.

The trick is trying to read the sub-texts, deceptions, and between the lines thinking and sort out some kind of truth. That is nearly impossible to do informally, and may require data analysis not possible from casual reading.

I have an apartment in NYC and have many friends who live there. According to them, the situation is a very big hassle, but not apocalyptic. The media has been covering it like a blanket. Go turn on any news station and you will see 2 stories. Sandy and the election.

The video is from Coney Island, which was hard hit. My apartment is in Manhattan in Tribeca. According to a neighbor the major problem has been that the power was out. It went on this morning but is still out in many nearby areas.

The plumbing has been working, so no shit in the hallways.

Yeah I'm getting that feeling too. It wasn't until Wednesday that reports of flooded Subways, and the extent of Atlantic City's damage and the Jersey Shore.

Is this supposed to be a goof or something? There was the small matter of a major hurricane making landfall on tuesday. The lazy liberal media didn't have reporters doing live coverage in the middle of the evacuation zones that were without power and had totally impassable roads. Failure to get reporters killed is obviously just a conspiracy to reelect Obama. You need a new hobby other than hating obama.

Another elitist temper tantrum. I get sick of self-righteous assholes who think their observations are privileged while anyone else offering an opinion is an idiot.

In reality a reporter with a satellite telephone and self-contained mobile broadcast van can gather infinitely more data about a disaster than a local citizen with a flooded basement and the power off.

Obviously during Katrina, the most ignorant of the true situation were the ones stranded on the rooftops and wondering why help wasn't showing up. That's not to denigrate disaster victims in the least, however the insistence that "I'm here and I see all so you don't know shit" is vile and hateful and should be stamped out whenever it rears its ugly head.

Even when Mitt Romney cancels campaigning and works to provide Hurricane Sandy relief, the media elites are still dropping bombs on him. The hurricane has given Obama "invaluable imagery and opportunity to be seen in command,“ said CNN’s Dana Bash. Meanwhile, Washington Post columnist Al Kamen cracked that Romney is “finding that, unlike franks and beans, charity and politics can be a tricky mix.”

The “tricky” part of the mix is the media. Their opportunistic bashing of Romney’s food drive shows it doesn’t matter what the Republicans will do, the media will stick to anti-Romney talking points.

Romney has done nothing that wasn't opportunistic and manipulative this entire election cycle, from using the attacks in the Middle East as political leverage - to the point where the mothers of those directly affected have requested he stop - to the cynical ways he has managed his storm effort - that much is a completely accepted fact, why would you now try to convince us that his new effort is anything different? And why should anyone think otherwise?

Given the timing of the storm, any gesture from Romney was going to seem political, so his goal was probably just to satisfy his base that he could get some air time to counter what Obama naturally gets for just doing his job, and looking (being) Presidential. (true, he did say he wouldn't)

This doesn't bother me as much as the lies about jobs sent to china, or the right wing's made up "scandal" around the tragedy in Benghazi.

Nope, I didn't say that. I said that it is very possible that someone sitting across the country has far more information than you do. Or it's also possible that you are especially well informed and you know more than most people. That's not my point.

My point is that you are using your physical location as an argument for your supreme knowledge and at the same time telling people who don't live there that they could not possibly have any accurate information.

Definitely because you're just being a partisan hypocrite with no credibility, as usual.

Nope, that's crap too. Why don't you comment on the certain fact that Crazy was using his elitist position to bash someone else as being stupid while roo was not?

Nawww......just kidding again Shrek. You aren't going to comment on it because you can't.

Where will housing be found for Sandy's victims?

Government leaders are turning their attention to the next crisis unfolding in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy: finding housing for potentially tens of thousands of people left homeless.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said it has already dispensed close to $200 million in emergency housing assistance and has put 34,000 people in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area up in hotels and motels.

But local, state and federal officials have yet to lay out a specific, comprehensive plan for finding them long-term places to live, even as cold weather sets in. And given the scarcity and high cost of housing in the metropolitan area and the lack of open space, it could prove a monumental undertaking.

For example, can enough vacant apartments be found? Will the task involve huge, Hurricane Katrina-style encampments of trailer homes? And if so, where will authorities put the trailers? In stadiums? Parks?

Authorities cannot answers those questions yet.

“It’s not going to be a simple task. It’s going to be one of the most complicated and long-term recovery efforts in U.S. history,” said Mark Merritt, president of Witt Associates, a Washington crisis management consulting firm founded by former FEMA director James Lee Witt.

Tactics that FEMA used in other disasters could be difficult to apply in the city. For example, Merritt said, it’s impossible to set up trailers in people’s driveways if everyone lives in an apartment building, and it’s harder to find space to set up mobile homes.

The plexus of criminally insane banks should come up with savage, deceptive loan products that will destroy the victim's finances and leave them sucking Tyvek and particle-board gas in shacks someplace a swamp 100 miles from work. There is no nightmare that the innovations of the financial crimes industry cannot turn into apocalyptic horror.
