http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/24/1149641/-Breaking-GOP-Caught-Red-Handed-Voter-Fraud-in-Indiana

We brought forward specific allegations of a pattern of errors in procedures from a worker in the Voter Reg office. In February, Donna Harris, Director of Voter Reg., assured the Election Boardunder penalty of wrong-doingthat her office was following procedures properly. Recently, Lynn Spevak (Dem), our current Clerk of the Circuit Court and a member of the Election Board, received a call from a would-be voter who discovered she couldn't vote. Spevak researched the case and quickly discovered that the would-be voter had been purged incorrectly.

Dan8267 writes: "Sure it did. Let me dumb it down more for you. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt"

As you are well aware from the discussion and your comment 25 where you proposed: "I'll gladly support voter ID when those advocating it like you pick up the bill to ensure that every single legitimate voter has the proper ID and that voters do not have to spend one damn cent to get the ID."

I said that was a rather high standard but rather than just scream at each other, I'll concede the issue isn't ensuring every legitimate voter is perfectly guaranteed to have an ID but rather eliminating any reasonable barrier to them getting one.

And I complied with your requirement in the discussion where I said that I would happily support free ID and heck, even support ID overall to deal with the "undocumented" immigrant issue and identity theft. So I, at least, am not out to suppress votes. You then made an unfounded claim later that "every" voterID proponent was against free ID, but that's a rather broad generalization you'll need to backup.

    And there we stand.

Regarding the newstory you cited: "Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, a Republican, said he was expanding the investigation to see whether there was an effort to destroy voter registration applications statewide."

So what does your cite prove exactly? If there's an incident of vote tampering, it's republican driven by definition even if a republican attorney general is leading the investigation?

It comes across to me that you're posturing hoping that some "undecided voter" or youthful mind will buy into your propaganda and join your side (perhaps that's how you bought into all of it.) I think overall that any person posting to this forum, however, is unlikely to be that easily influenced. But go ahead and keep trying if you like. Good luck with it.

    lostand confused says

I don't see the republicans do anything for men, except act like bufoons. They are stuck in the 60s, arguing about birth control, abortion and allowing women to go back early so she can cook dinner for her family.

    Money.

    lostand confused says

That is the problem-the dems pander to the lazy entitled women base-the lazy woman who feels entitled to a lifestyle even though she never lifts a finger.

    Money.

This reminds me of a joke:

A corporate CEO, a public union member, and a teabagger sit around a table. In the center of the table is a plate holding 12 cookies. The CEO takes 11 cookies starts eating them. The teabagger appears puzzled. The CEO leans over and wispers in his ear, “look out for that union guy, he wants part of your cookie…”

The teabagger pulls out his gun and shoots the union member. “Damned socialist,” he states proudly. “The CEO worked hard for those cookies.”

Most are missing the massive wealth transfers that have occurred and are still ongoing. Richie Rich gets richer, no matter what it seems. However ineffectual they are at it, at least the Democrats have some NOTION there is a problem, and something should be done about it. I contrast this with modern GOP for whom the notion that the 1% deserve all the wealth and then some, damn the torpedoes full speed ahead, and have turned it into a religious dogma with no civil or social context AT all. It's clear to me which party sold out.

Meanwhile Rush keeps nattering on about Feminazis, it's a nice distraction to keep people angry about which peasant is scrambling to get to a choice crumb that fell off the silver platter.

"Compare that to the 20 million legitimate voters who would be denied their right to vote by these Unconstitutional laws. No wonder they were all struck down."

Found via google "court upholds voter id law"
    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82255.html
South Carolina voter ID law upheld by federal court, but delayed
"WASHINGTON (AP) — A panel of three federal judges upheld a South Carolina law requiring voters to show photo identification, but delayed enforcement until next year, in a decision announced Wednesday, less than a month before this year's presidential election.
In a unanimous ruling, the judges said there was no discriminatory intent behind the law, ruling that it would not diminish African-Americans' voting rights because people who face a "reasonable impediment" to getting an acceptable photo ID can still vote if they sign an affidavit."

    http://tinyurl.com/amnetcv
"Insight: Scant evidence of voter suppression, fraud in states with ID laws
ATLANTA (Reuters) - Democratic claims that a large number of Americans could be prevented from voting because of photo identification laws are probably overstated based on evidence from Georgia and Indiana, the two states where the laws have been in place for multiple elections, Reuters found.
Data and numerous interviews by Reuters reporters also suggest there is little evidence to bolster Republican assertions that ID laws are needed to combat rampant voter fraud.
While some election officials and experts cautioned it was still too early to determine the impact of the laws, Reuters found higher voter turnout since they took effect in the two states; few people casting provisional ballots because they lacked IDs; and limited anecdotal evidence of people facing major obstacles in voting.
Both states have given out thousands of free state photo IDs to those without driver's licenses, and both allow absentee voting as a way around the photo ID laws."

So there you go. The states have issued FREE (did you read that, FREE!) ID's and while they say that Republican concerns of the dead rising to vote are probably overstated, the voter ID laws probably are not disenfranchising voters either. You haven't shown that voter ID proponents are against handing out free ID's for the poor to comply with the law and I suspect that's a total strawman on your part.

    Ta ta!

Vicente tells a joke illustrating his point of view: "A corporate CEO, a public union member, and a teabagger sit around a table.
“The CEO worked hard for those cookies.”"

Let's try telling the story another way: A socialist living in a mostly white neighborhood proclaims that all the cookies at the table should go to women and minorities, government union members, and cronies at Goldman Sachs and Fannie Mae CEO's. He sneers that white males will soon not be a problem as they lose demographic numbers and so he doesn't care what they think.

Then when the white males in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are asked who they will vote for, they say they don't think the socialists care about them so they're voting for Romney to which the socialist sneers: "You're so stupid! You don't think for yourself! You need to agree with me otherwise you're stupid! I'll help you just as soon as we help all these other Democrat constituencies.

Of course, white males have fled the Democrat party because the Democrats treat white males much in the same way the party treated blacks in the 1950's via Jim Crow. White women are slowly following suit. As time goes by, the Democrat party will be a non-white marxist party and eventually, simply a race entitlement party where old style economic marxism is irrelevant. (If old-style economic marxism ever was relevant.)

As I often observe here, it's difficult to understand white male marxists who continue to believe in a party that's leaving them, and their ideology behind, and is simply about survival of it's elites. If you think "teabaggers" are intolerant homophobes and denying women "choice", wait until the Democrat party Islamicists start enacting Sharia law...

In any case, carry on trying to fool any remaining white, non-union/crony rubes who might be inclined to buy into old style FDR marxism in an age when George Soros and Wall Street are openly in bed with the Democrat party. I find it useful to see how many people are slow to feel which way the wind is blowing...

and in particular shit like this:

    http://wtvr.com/2012/10/20/attorney-general-wont-investigate-worker-arrested-for-dumping-voter-registrations/

thats the Ken Cuccinelli you're talking about, right? The one that won't investigate the incident of WITNESSED election fraud by a republican staff worker, and who also just HAPPENS to be a Republican. And it just goes on and on.

You blather on and on with hyperbolic statements and then when proved wrong or the facts go against you you split hairs to infinity and demand "proof" thats never good enough for you and can conveniently ignore, over and over again.

So what does this prove exactly? To me it proves that if you see no problem in all of of this crap above then you have no business being involved in democracy.

And your links prove WHAT exactly? Cuccinelli claims he can't investigate by law. That will be tested. In addition, voting machines having issues are nothing new:

    http://tinyurl.com/c3a4484
"Voting machine swaps Romney for Obama"

And regarding the claims that voting fraud rarely happens so, hey, no problems with just letting people print up utility bills:

    http://tinyurl.com/8wt6mmz
"And so far, Fund and von Spakovsky report, 177 people have been convicted -- not just accused, but convicted -- of voting fraudulently in the Senate [Al Franken] race. Another 66 are awaiting trial. "The numbers aren't greater," the authors say, "because the standard for convicting someone of voter fraud in Minnesota is that they must have been both ineligible, and 'knowingly' voted unlawfully." The accused can get off by claiming not to have known they did anything wrong."

I explained with my links that the voter ID laws were upheld and no serious voter disenfranchisement was found despite claims to the contrary.

You then engage in this hyperbole: "you have no business being involved in democracy."

For people who claim to be the Holy Defender of democracy, you sure do like declaring which people have a "business" being involved and which don't. There were claims to want innocence within reasonable doubt yet you assume the person accused of spoiling registrations is guilty and therefore representative of all Republicans. Yeah, real "tolerant" there. And even as leftists shriek about The Constitution, you want it to be "living" and reinterpreted to suit you. That's why I laughed that that same folks who proclaimed the Supreme Court was Holy and their Roe VS Wade should stand forever were a bunch of hacks when they decided against Al Gore. Republicans are all such selfish hypocrites, aren't they?

Yeah yeah yeah. Good luck with selling that.

I looked into the case of the spoiled applications you cited. Here's the details:

It looks like a kid you're trying to lynch here. Did you see his mug shot? Yes, he worked to collect registrations but keep in mind he was following up likely REPUBLICAN voters. If someone from the now discredited Acorn group were running a registration drive, I wouldn't give them a republican registration. In the meantime, keep in mind:

"Spicer also responded to questions about Small's previous work at Strategic Allied Consulting, an Arizona firm fired by the Republican party in early October after fraudulent registration forms were discovered."

Acorn was criticized 4 years ago with registering "Mickey Mouse", literally, in the voting rolls. (I can provide a URL via google if you insist).

It's disingenuous to claim that a stupid kid who threw away ballots in a dumpster is part of a secret, evil Republican effort to fix the election. With 8 or so tossed ballots? In a dumpster? Why not take them home and shred them?

When I dig into easily examined claims and stated "facts" such as "all" voter ID laws were overturned and found to be discriminatory or even just click through the links provided and read beyond the top commentary, it's easy to conclude that the posturing hyperbole I've read is an attempt to fool some rube into believing "Yeah, those Republicans are the ONLY people out there doing this and they're evil!" or making other true believers feel better. But as I said, few easily manipulated rubes are reading this forum. They are sufficiently opinionated one way or the other to not just convert and drink cool aid simply by posting a link and writing a bunch of exclamation marks. I'm so mad!!!!! Stop being stupid!!! Did that work? Did that change your mind? I didn't think so.

In these discussions, I like to undermine the cognitive dissonance going on with my opponents with deeply held, cherished religious beliefs (with the term religious applying overall to a philosophical viewpoint) by observing that I know that they know that I know the games they're trying to play. It trips them up. Take care.

Classic confusion. Is it a BALLOT or a REGISTRATION form? The difference between the two is large.

Until GOP stops confusing the two, deliberately or stupidly, it's hard to have much respect for 'em.

On the one hand, we should overlook this one case of 8 ballots/forms it's just a stupid mistake.

ACORN never dumped any in the trash. Reals and fakes were right there to be caught in audits. ACORN had a handful of fakes that we are still apparently talking about YEARS later, whereas GOP would prefer we scratch over this RNC fraud and forget about it yesterday. "Oh, are we still talking about that?".

    Bah.

I dunno, why dont you ask him. The republican attorney general wont.

I'm -interested- in the kid dumping the forms, I'm -fascinated- by the lack of investigation into it.

Sorry dude, there's just too many accidents and weirdness coming from the GOP side at this point to be accidental. I don't think it's part of a big nefarious plot, I prefer to think of it as example after example of a party of people who have lost their moral compass, and who consider it their right/duty to say anything/do anything to "win". Lord knows the current leader of the party is setting the path there. That's just an accepted fact at this point.

People who think like you are at a low point, and I think it's a combination of the fact that they know they are loosing the battle of ideas and simply have nothing left other than fraud, fear and fomenting.

By the way, the cognitive dissonance is here: you damn the entirety of acorn with exactly the same type of criticisms you brush off as trivial isolated incidentsin the group you support, and then you take my single obnoxious statement about your unwillngness to criticize your own fellow ideologues and try to paint the entire left movement with it.

    Take care...

Yet, isn't that what you're doing? Blowing off accusations against Acorn and other examples of voter fraud that probably benefits the left while posturing outrage that Republicans are all fixing elections based upon any black cat that crosses your path. Regarding losing the battle of ideas: The left has to import third worlders in as their voters and they prefer to not live among them. I find it amusing, in a way, since other than basic party survival, what's the point? It's not making the world into Sweden that's for sure.

Yeah, my fault. I meant registrations as I indicated in this sentence: "Yes, he worked to collect registrations but keep in mind he was following up likely REPUBLICAN voters." So now you're going to inflate that innocent mistake into making me part of the vast conspiracy to stop the left from making the world into Sweden by stuffing the ballot box with votes from people that you don't want to live amongst.

OK, you "win" that one. But good luck with it Vicente. And good luck with opposing voter ID laws as evil, racist republican plots by default. Most voters agree with me and ironically it's helping to boost turnout for my side. (The guys you prefer to live amongst.)

Exactly one of my points. Dismiss the source to ignore the information. Now by your style of arguing I can safely ignore the rest of the contents of your posts.

On an aside, it may interest you to know that Canada still has in place a law that requires information relayed through news sources to be accurate and not misleading. You may remember hearing about from such places as http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-f-kennedy-jr/fox-news-will-not-be-moving-into-canada-after-all_b_829473.html

And polish, YOU first mentioned Acorn two or three posts ago and now because I haven't responded in the one or two I've made since you're ready to label me an extreme supporter. And anyway… the info you mentioned was four years old. Wasn't that the time frame you sneered at and dismissed me for several posts above when i gave a link to a Roger Ailes quote? Yes, it was. Captainshuddup, here's how it goes here: ANYTHING reported on foxnews is wrong because foxnews isn't really news. Also, any opinions or observations they disagree with are wrong because those opinions were probably dictated by foxnews and therefore wrong. All people who disagree with leftists are closed minded bigots.

The good news is that when they're looking for ways to cry that they're losing is unfair, that means they have real doubts.

It's more News than anything out there, believe me I've tried.

Because Fox has a huge negative bias associated with it (according to roughly half the population) and a large corporation has a lot more to lose than a small shop full of redneck assholes.

Nice work trout. You've again confirmed your existence in a universe of pure fantasy.

You have a short memory. When the Iraq war started, we were called seditionists and traitors. A day doesn't go by when Michael Savage or Rush Limbaugh or one of your other heros doesn't say that liberals hate America. Republicans and fake independents reek of hatred and intolerance.

Not the pussy type of intolerance but the real kind. Like Michael Savage keeps saying, the kind that something needs to be done about.

    OK Iwog Limbaugh.
You win, but I don't care.
That's your battle I'm an independent. You always gripe to me, from the perspective that I'm a republican. But the truth is, I don't care about your political plight with the republicans, and I just don't care, how FOX, Rush, Savage, or Beck has disenfranchised you.

Though I do have a question for you...
    So how does it feel?

This time around, I'm going to spend less time listening to your gripes(Oh poor YOU!), and how the GOP has it in for you, and how anyone that doesn't harp in with you is a bigot and a racist that loves big business and will personally responsible for Corporate world domination.
Oh the humanity! You shouldn't have casted your lot with either of those defunct parties. They don't have your best interest in mind... (well maybe they do, I hear you're loaded) Which I don't get, what is it with you? You win no matter who wins, they are there to serve you. Why are you here to me give me crap? Do I or you really need all of your pissing and moaning about how bad you have it, Mr. Rental Mogul?

I'm part of the new Majoirty now, that's 38% of the registered Voters. We're more powerful than you, and the other ass clowns. The problem is we/They just don't know it yet. Because rather than taking this shit and doing something constructive with it, we're wasting our time with you, that would rather spin our wheels in complete stand still listening to you dictate what our issues are.

I'm going to get out there and talk to my people and try to make them realize they are on the right track. I need to make sure the Wolves in Sheep clothes don't show up, and try to coopt them or even worse, arrest them for being political heretics.

This is my time now, now begone.

ANYTHING reported on foxnews is wrong because foxnews isn't really news.

This is the only true statement you've made on this thread.

Hell, The Daily Show points out the hypocrisy and out-right lies of Fox News on practically every episode. Anyone who watches Fox News should be forced to watch The Daily Show point out all the blatant lies of Fox.

Us non-real Americans should not have to pay real American income tax. I'd like the $1 million in taxes I've paid during my adulthood returned since I'm not a "real American".

Oh, and adjust it for inflation, i.e. the increase in M3. And tack on the interests and penalties that the IRS would have charged me if the situation were reversed.

Good point. I can see where you would compare the generalization of 100 million US citizens with the fictional generalization of a dozen or so. Just about as rational as voting for Romney.

Bad premise, Dan8267. Resident aliens are obligated to pay taxes (as many of my friends like to tell me :-) So yes, "taxation without representation" is perfectly valid. Even most leftists agree that children shouldn't be allowed to vote even if they have a job that they pay taxes on.

By the same token, the USA is one of the few countries that requires ex-pats living overseas to pay taxes on income that they don't earn in the USA. The left seems very happy with this arrangement and even extending it via "FATCA" law that makes it difficult for ex-pats overseas to use foreign banks.

Nice attempt at rationalization there. You used an ethnic slur. But hey, reveal your true colors. I hope enough of them in Pennsylvania and Ohio have wised up in time for the election today. In the meantime, when the demographics of the Democrat party look little like those of Lafayette, we'll see what happens...

Redneck isn't an ethnic slur. It's a description that usually means ignorant and racist.

Calling a typical white person in California a redneck wouldn't be abusive or racist, it would just be considered stupid.

There is a foreign income exclusion, however. Is is $91,500 plus 16% for housing per taxpayer. A husband as wife expat team regularly have over $200k of foreign income excluded from tax.

Most ethnic slurs are not meant to be complimentary. Regarding using it against "typical white persons". There sure are a lot of them in Lafayette, California.

Good. Why not mention it in your complaint about expats paying US taxes then? If you are going to state facts about a particular subject, then make sure you include all of the facts.

"Good. Why not mention it in your complaint about expats paying US taxes then? If you are going to state facts about a particular subject, then make sure you include all of the facts."

Because it doesn't disprove what I wrote which is, quote, "By the same token, the USA is one of the few countries that requires ex-pats living overseas to pay taxes on income that they don't earn in the USA"

Even if it's couples earning over $200K per year, this still makes the USA somewhat unique in that regard.

If you want to insist that people include ALL the facts on any particular subject, these posts are going to get REALLY long! But if you insist, David1, please post the full tax code from the IRS on the matter. I would hate for David1 to feel that we didn't properly inform him... :-)

Only true if they make more than ~200k. If they make less, then that statement is patently false.

"Only true if they make more than ~200k. If they make less, then that statement is patently false."

If someone were to say that Americans are required to pay taxes on income, you could also quibble that many Americans (almost a majority even) don't have to pay income taxes since they either don't earn enough money to have a net liability or they have sufficient deductions. But overall, the statement is fundamentally sound and honest.

But stomp your feet about it if you like. If it makes you feel better. Enjoy.
