It's not just the neocons. ZBig and Kissinger both have the wet dream of shattering Russia into multiple, unstable, and US Client States. They know that a united Russia with halfway decent leadership won't allow 100% foreign control of Russia's abundant natural resources. There is so much anti-Russian propaganda. Imagine if Pussy Riot was in the States. The Russian police grabbed them firmly by the shoulders and arrested them peacefully with no force. The NYPD would have tazed them all several times and used their heads to open the doors of St. Patrick's on the way out. Then the NYC Judge would have given them 5 years for assault, trespassing, vandalism, etc in a closed trial, banning the media. Jesus, the last time P-Riot shoved frozen chickens up their wazoo at a public supermarket and got a fine. If a few hippy types did than in Iowa, they would be registered sex offenders and get a minimum of several years in prison with no parole, plus a good beating during the arrest. Yet Putin's Russia is a police state?!
