PatNet continues to suffer from spammers:

Currently there is no recourse other than to click into the thread, display it, then click "Dislike". I suggest a "flag" link for threads and comment lists:

Enabling Users to flag threads from the home page, and to flag comments and Users from the comment lists, would accelerate the removal of spammers. It could also be automated, i.e. if enough longtime users flag an account it gets blocked and the threads/comments get removed. A warning page would dissuade abuse, e.g. clicking "flag for removal" would lead to a confirmation page that warns abuse may result in blocking the feature.

    OK, will do.

For every thread, comment, and newslink, I'll add a "Spam" link visible to "trusted" users, meaning those who've been around a long time or with a lot of comments, or both.

If two such users flag an item as spam, it will be removed.

But I'll get an email too, and if it's not really spam, I won't trust them anymore.
