49% to 44%

Romney has 0% chance of winning this election without Florida. This is good news.

That isn't important. It only matters that your emotions are in overdrive and you toe the line ideologically and you have enough anger that's properly focused. Fuck that!

Ah. The ad hominem attack. Where have I let my emotions run rampant?

Has it completely escaped you what these guys are worth?

Misinformation Ministers. Completely fucking worthless to the good of this nation. Flirting with Joseph Goebbels.

I wasn't a college washout. Neither was my wife.

Are you John Fund, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, or Glenn Beck? Is your wife?

Do you consider yourself a leader of the conservative activism movement? What are your original ideas that are championed by conservatives?

I was only pointing out the most followed leaders of conservative activism happen to be washouts. The big three are certainly Limbaugh, Beck, and Hannity.

Has anyone noticed that there is an overwhelmingly high percentage of the Conservative activism movement that are college washouts?

Maybe, but weren't Bill Gates and Steve Jobs also college washouts?

Jobs quit school because he ran out of money. His parents could have never afforded Reed College long term.

Gates quit school because he truly didn't need it. He was so far ahead of everyone else and so bored and so tired of the academic culture that his father offered to help him start Microsoft. It's more common that you know.

The only reason I have my degree is because no one else in my family had ever finished college and I felt duty bound to be the first one. My wife's story is a similar one.

For Obama to win a second term, it would mean America has fundamentally changed. It would mean that between all those losses at the midterms and now, something REALLY changed.

I think its more that the Republican party will have lost because they themselves didn't change. Truth of the matter little has changed in the way they speak to their increasingly narrowing base since the 1950's: declare that anything that isn't exactly as they want to be either socialist, communist, or for all I care, from outer space.

Their problem is that they chose a target demographic that at one time had a overwhelming sway in national politics. They still do but that influence is rapidly shifting. That was a good tactic a few decades ago but they in turn have given themselves a very specific "brand" that only appeals the an aforementioned singular voting base. Its like advertising: you have to be aware of changing prevailing attitudes, various groups and demographics and be willing and able to change with those things. Republicans are not doing this as seen by their current campaign.

Democrats on the other hand I think much earlier on realized that had a potentially effective and perhaps even long-lasting advantage on their hands: Simply go after the votes of everyone else and as the other non-Republican base voters grow, the more the better for them. This has taken a few generations but I think the last two elections are starting to show this tactic working.

I would imagine that this might be the last election where Republicans choose to count almost entirely on their base and not a wider demographic.

And then went to India-Tibet for a year... with what money? A plane ticket in those days must have cost more than a semester at Reed, never mind living there for a year.

Romney has the potential to be in this group if only because he's a Mormon and they're known to be very strong, silent, boring, old fashioned people.

I don't know that anyone actually expects Romney to win in Nevada anyway. I don't know why it's even considered a "swing state" It would be like expecting Romney to win in Michigan or Pennsylvania, or expecting Obama to win in NC. It' just isnt' going to happen.

He's doing fairly well in Ohio. Currently showing about a 70+ chance of winning that state. Florida is about 60%.

I can understand why in Ohio: That state is still heavily dependent on the auto industry and thus that's pretty much a no-brainer given that Romney claimed the auto bailouts were a bad thing, and especially now that the US auto industry is now doing pretty well.

Maybe, but how do you propose to fix all the structural unemployment? Clearly Reaganomics isn't going to reduce domestinc unemployment. The problem is lack of demand. Even some folks at the "socialist" Motley Fool are saying so. You've got huge numbers of folks who *want* to work but can't find jobs. And so they can't spend money. Which means there's no demand for his job. He can't "create his own job" unless he can spend some money first.

It's a catch 22. Sure, your car battery might not like having to start up that deadbeat gasoline engine every morning. But how else is that gasoline engine going to get running? Once the engine is running again, it "pays back" the battery via the alternator. The sudden loss of stored energy is very painful for the battery in the short term, but it gets its money back in time via good profits from a strong economy.

Romney traded under .25 on the IEM today. So you're now getting 3:1 odds if you want to bet on Romney winning. That's right, quadruple your money if he wins.

If anyone feels certain they know better than what the money says, they should bet on Romney.

I had no idea that Obama was promoting homosexuality so aggressively. This is a big story. Shout it from the roof tops. We already know that Obama would do anything to increase the number of abortions that occur in America. And that he wants to take our guns.

He also alternates between wanting to indoctrinate our youth to be atheist communists versus sympathizing with radical fundamentalists.

And since when is a guy who isn't even a real American entitled to be the President ?

Every once in a whlie I think it would be fun to go to a Romney town hall, so I can ask him how much of his money he's keeping on the sidelines because his taxes are too high. But then I remember that it's all in a blind trust, so he doesn't actually know.

The man isn't just divorced from my view of the economy --he's walled off from his own as well. Yet he's certain that dropping his tax rate to zero is what's best for the nation.

Undecideds (those saying 'don't know') are people who have already DECIDED not to vote for the incumbent (Obama). When the election gets closer and they start paying more attention, they all shift over to the challenger

Really? On 10/4/2004, Zogby had the race at 46% Bush, 44% Kerry, with 8% undecided. On 10/27, they had it tied at 47% with 5% undecided.

The final vote tally was 52% Bush to 48% Kerry.

Looks like that election pretty much destroys that lame theory.

I am reading these posts and am amazed at the comments. Doesn't anybody acknowledge the huge billowing debt, the failed attempts at trying to stimulate useless "green" projects, the complete idiotic foreign policy?

Get real, four more years of Letterman appearances and celebrity schmoozing and we'll be past broke. Actually, we are already.

As to Obamacare, more than 20 additional taxes, 16,000 new IRS agents to enforce them, isn't it clear where we are going?

I lived in the UK for 3 years on assignment, Spain for 1 year, and Italy for 6 years. They all had your "Ideal" Gov. Health Care. Thank God I had private health insurance. I got immediate treatment while the locals waited 6 months to a year. The doctors fell over themselves getting me to the front of the line, THEY WOULD GET PAID! So you think Obamacare will work? You will get what you deserve.

Unfortunately, the rest of us will get what you deserve too.

    the huge billowing debt

You mean the huge billowing debt created by Republicans?

    jetman says

the failed attempts at trying to stimulate useless "green" projects

What cracks me up about this comment is that AT MOST those useless green projects cost a few billion dollars and 100% of the money ends up in the economy.

George Bush LOST $10 billion in cash that was delivered on pallets into the Iraqi war zone and Republicans didn't give a flying fuck. (and still don't)

    jetman says

    the complete idiotic foreign policy

You mean the successful foreign policy. If you read press outside of the USA you'd realize that Fox Noise isn't giving you an accurate picture.

Yes. It's very clear. We're rolling taxes back to 1999. Now if Obama can keep working at it, maybe we'll roll taxes back to the 1980s. If he's REALLY good, we can see taxes at pre 1980 levels and then perhaps the economy can repair itself.

What.....did you fucking think that we were headed towards socialism??? ROFLOL

You're lying. I've already seen the polls. Single payer is BY FAR the most preferred method of health care in the world.

I am reading these posts and am amazed at the comments. Doesn't anybody acknowledge the huge billowing debt, the failed attempts at trying to stimulate useless "green" projects, the complete idiotic foreign policy?

So what I hear you saying is that if we just lower taxes on the rich, taking the deficit to guaranteed bankruptcy level, and restructure OBamacare to magically cover preexisting conditions without a mandate, and turn medicare in to a voucher system, and go back to the good old days when Rusia and China are our enemies, that then everythng will be peachy ?

    More bad news for rootvg:

    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/democrats-likely-retain-senate-four-critical-races-shift-160643042--election.html

The author of the article and the designer of the model used for predictions must be young whippersnappers that haven't seen what root has seen in his lifetime.

They probably ddn't clear $200K last year, either.

Saved for recall in November. Unlike you, I don't appeal to an elitist perspective when I say Obama is going to win. I don't claim special knowledge or special insight or special intelligence like you do. I think Obama is going to win because the polls are correct every year.

Maybe that guy was involved in developing that Orca secret weapon campaign coordination thing. That would explain a lot.
