Ah yes..... it always ends in blaming the other side, instead of taking personal responsibilities for the lack of leadership for the last three years!!!

It's true. For a president to lead, it helps if the type of humans in the opposition party place the interests of the country above the interests of their party's power.

    It's that whole leader/follower dynamic.

No one said it would be easy, that job sucks... but it's the job he wanted, so he needs to find away to step up to the plate, be a leader and get everyone on board working to the common good of the american people... Obama hasn't done that... and is unable to do that... he Failed...
It's time to bring on a new Head Coach!!

We can just as easily argue that there is "cancer in the locker room" - a bunch of Terell Owens characters as represented by the tea party who refuse to listen to "head coach."

To clarify, I'm not going to vote for Romney, for many reasons. I'm just saying that making this sales pitch is the way that he could get as close as possible to getting my vote.

Ruki, even people with R's next to their name are calling Ryan a fibber (or great embellish-er) on this stuff. Will give you credit for going down swinging, but eventually facts catch up with you.

So, you want to talk about how bad the economy is, and you want to say President Obama is president now, and therefore he owns it. Okay, and then any serious analysis of how or why our economy is where it is, is not only not productive or useful, it is also "an excuse" and "finger pointing."

Better to totally NOT understand why we are where we are, and to only understand two things:

    1) The economy is still bad.

    2) Obama is President

I get it, I think everyone gets the message.

After all it is the entirety of the Romney campaign theme.

    An observation.

Romney traded at .38 today. When it get's to .33, that means the money says 2:1 odds against Romney winning.

Who gives a fuck? What's to be done? Snipers and poll suppression scams and Ohio-esque man-in-the-middle attacks will hand Romney the win. He'll fire the OCC, FDIC and SEC, banks will again begin lending money to people's pets to flip condos, blow a huge bubble so people can run 200% HELOCS on their shacks and buy crappy cars and get STDs on cheap cruises and feel rich, which will crash in a term or two so they can cart out a couple of witless, demented retards a la 2008 to help elect another hapless Democrat who'll be left with the steaming shit to shovel up and be blamed for everything. We want a new movie.

I agree. They probably really do strategize this way. McCain was meant to lose and so is Romney.

Obama they can deal with by building up teaparty hate against him, making him fairly easy to obstruct.

I have three sources that provide statistical evidence that Republicans lie far more than Democrats. It's not even close. You have nothing to contradict that do you. All you can do is create this fantasy that everything that disturbs your little world has a liberal bias.

I'm ignoring them because they aren't fucking relevant and they aren't a comparative analysis of how much Republicans/Romney lies and Democrats/Obama lies.

I can't believe anyone could be this stupid.

No, the only question is which policies are harmful and which policies can help restore a functioning economy.

You can have a better economy, for awhile, with another housing bubble but it doesn't make it good for America. That and war are all Ryan and Romney have. They are unfit to govern. Malaise is actually better than what the Republicans have in store for us.

Well I've got news for you dog. The president can only do so much. That is always the case. What's different this time is how bad things are, for reasons that are independent of who is president right now.

I'm not saying it doesn't matter. What I'm saying is that if you were able to look at it objectively rather than:

Economy was great in late 80s, duh therefore Reagan great (he get's credit even if it was timing, interest rate falling down hard, and deficit spending that caused us to feel prosperous then)

We're still feeling the deep structural economic problems (*that we all saw coming), and I want daddy to make them go away. Duhh, Obama is bad.

*We all saw this coming. Didn't you ever have conversations with friends in the 90s or early aughts saying, "we don't make many of the products we consume anymore. What drives this economy?"

Turns out it was a credit boom.

Now we are in a different stage. There's no magic pill to get us out of our current situation.

Even if politicians all lie and there isn't that much difference, there is a big difference in philosophies. The right wing (tea party wing) is not conservative. THey want to privatize everything. They are blinded by ignorance and hate.

Okay, so you hear their dog whistle. You've got the hate part, but the ignorance too ?

So we had a radical defiant congress who not only refused to work with Obama, they nearly drove the economy off a cliff in an attempt to get their way.

They don't represent the people. They sign grover norquist's pledge to not raise taxes (drive us closer to bankruptcy for the purpose of ending "entitlements"), because of the campaign money it brings their way, and maybe because they just don't care about our fiscal condition. THey essentially use brute force to get their way.

And people like captiainshaddup want to reward this behavior by giving them more power ?

This is why I have to assume it's racism. Because otherwise you couldn't possibly be stupid enough to not understand what's going on.
