Patrick, who the fuck cares?
You may as well get used to this guy. No sitting president with this level of unemployment has won a second term since FDR in 1936. He's done.
Most if not all of the races this time will be about the economy and then the vote on Obamacare. Pointing the finger at Romney's wallet is stupid.

Except that he refused to release any more tax returns. The man is toast.
Add to this that he apparently was in charge of Bain through 2002, according to SEC filings, and that was when all the outsourcing happened.
Not releasing tax returns is a man hiding his past.

Poor politicians are easier to bribe. He probably won't need to create a bunch of fake Solyndras to hand cash out around the place.

There are those who care but they wont vote for him anyway. I dont care how rich he is but I would like to see his tax returns. In this day and age I really dont see how he can expect to be elected President without a full disclosure of his past "economic" activities. The world has changed and people now demand a level of personal economic information that he is clearly uncomfortable revealing. The questions this refusal raise, whether justified or not, are killer for him.

I think he is worth far more than 250 million. Far more. And what is he hiding by not releasing tax returns? Probably how he got the wealth. It probably isn't pretty.

Yeah but what about inflation adjustment?
I love the new Political Economics. Inflation is adjusted only as point dictates.

Romney may be quite rich but certainly not super-rich.
Nowadays, at the top, $250M buys you a very nice yacht and little else.

Hate is fear. If your facts don't help remove their fear, they just won't be accepted. Facts are selected for approval or not based on how they make the listener feel.
So you have to acknowledge their fear and then use the facts to show they don't need to be afraid.
So, for example, a black man gets elected president and then poor white men are afraid that they will be taxed to fund health care for poor black people. And they are not completely wrong. Poor black people probably will benefit from Obamacare. But the poor whites will benefit too. The extra money will come from requiring everyone to buy health insurance. The biggest winners are the private insurance companies.
Anyway, it's really the unspoken subtext that counts. If you can figure out what the subtext is, you can figure out an effective response.

Hatred is an emotional response to fear. And fear is the only primary emotion. Everything else other than "love" can be expressed in terms of fear.

Most emotions are derivatives of fear. For example, greed is the fear of missing out. Anger is a response to fear.

Everything in Romney's tax return is a distracting entertainment.
Romney's real family wealth, likely in generations old trusts off shore in Europe and the West Pacific, will never ever be discussed or appear on any financial instrument or document that will ever see the light of day.

I don't really care how much money Romney has. The fact of the matter is that he's a man who inherited vast wealth, built more wealth using practices that most Americans oppose, and has absolutely no idea how ordinary Americans -- even well off ones -- live.
None of that would be an issue at all if it wasn't for the fact that half of his campaign is based on trying to appeal to Americans who are fed up with the elites that run the government.

Either way it'll be downright comical to seem Romney campaigning on the evils of RomneyCare...oops...I mean ObamaCare.

By all rights the republicans should win this election by a landslide. The economy stinks, Obama has failed to follow through on core promises, he has alienated the young, which really put him in power, the list goes on and on.
However, Romney seems only to be good at raising huge amounts of money, and then bashing much under funded opponents to smithereens. He won't get that this time around. He seems out of touch and arrogant.
Romney's policy proposals look like they were done by someone at Bain Capital. They are so complex (for example see his medicare plan) that it is hard to understand exactly what is going on. You do get the feeling from them that you are likely to be screwed over, but you are not sure how.
Maybe Romney will get it together, become more focused, and reach out to the common man, but if he doesn't I think he could lose this.

Me too. His wealth doesn't itnerest me at all. But this whole mess with Bain and him going on TV for 4/5 interviews in a row and claiming he retired from Bain in 1999. Then all the documents to the SEC come out , also he was listed as the Chairman, CEO and sole stockholder. That scares me-does he think we are that dumb or is he just used to lying and firing anybody who questions him , that he didn't expect any blowback.
As a long time corporate worker, I know management lies and lies through their teeth and will change direction for no reason and you just have to follow-if you want to keep your job. Sometimes even that is not enough-maybe he was expecting the electorate to act the same??

I think the key to this period of 1999 to 2002 is whether he attended board meetings, annual meetings etc. (these can be done with video conferencing) I don't think anyone is disputing that, as he has stated, he wasn't involved in the day to day operations. Having been involved in several small corporations and LLC's these meetings are extremely important as to the general direction that management takes. Honestly I would find it difficult to believe that he didn't attend these meetings, in the same situation I sure would have. Bain was his baby, there were large amounts of money involved, he would be neglecting his fiduciary responsibility if he hadn't attended. At the time he would have had no reason not to attend such meetings, it is only in hind sight that Bain's activities during this period might prove to be politically unsavory.

Making tomato soup and running rum are not nearly as controversial as putting third generation chromers and fifth generation machinists out of work so that their jobs can be done by slaves in the PRC who are kept tame by an army which will fire on them at any indication of an interest in Freedom.

He's Rich enough to buy MY Vote.
I just love him to pieces, and there's nothing you can do about it.
You can't intimidate me, you can't call me racist until I vote your way, you certainly can't complain to Patrick and have him give us a talking down to lecture that will change my mind.
here let me...
I think they need to send a new Liberal this one's broken...
His grammar module is on the fritz, it's just not the same being chastised by the Elite class when they are posting in broken English.

Romney should just advocate having the National Guard fire on union members in the name of Freedom - just like the prosperous and Freedom loving Chinese!

It's bizarre Mitt was collecting a large salary for work he wasn't doing. I don't mean dividends or something, I mean actual SALARY in 6 figures. Was this "model of efficiency" run like Office Space? IniTech(Bain Capital) just forgot they had Milton(Romney) on the payroll?
OMG I just read how Mitt was named after MILTON "Mitt" Romney, his father's cousin. So he really is Milton!
