Can I get that minute of my life back? I don't get the point, are you suggesting that marijuana is more acceptable because some figure of authority smoked it? Or is it that rich, (predominantly white) folk don't live by the same set of rules as working poor like me and mine?
There is no better example of economic lesson to be learned, then that of where marijuana price comes from. Or do you know of some other instance in commerce where the economic rent results in a 100x mark up? In a just world, there would be zero rules and regulations on this plant, and it would likely cost about 2-3$ an oz for good outdoors. Instead, people pay upwards of 300$ in the present system of fuckery.
The problem is, like everything else the govt fucks up, how do they change course? Are they going to admit their foul, release all the victims of their war on people, and squash the biggest jobs program the government/ law for profit complex has ever known? Not unless they have something else to replace it with. And why bother, its such an easy scam, they even have plenty of somewhat sensible people along for the ride. Have you ever heard some of these mindless lackeys that they train, and arm, and put in uniform talk about their line of work? They are saving the world for the children!
In reality, the opposite is true. They are merely doing the bidding of TPTB, brutally terrorizing millions of citizens who, save for some silly laws drawn up by worthless lawyer and politician types for their own profits, aren't actually doing anything wrong. Assholes. Hopefully they get their comeuppance sooner then later

The first point is that marijuana doesn't prevent people from being productive members of society or "successful" by even the criteria of politicians who outlaw it. The second point is that all those politicians who are jailing people for marijuana usage are hypocrites that should be in jail too if laws were applied equally to all people regardless of their political connections.
